I've posted on here because Bodybuilding.com and T-Nation are aggressive forums.
My father died in December 2017 and I wasn't exercising from the time he went into hospital end September until January 2018. In January I started a high-protein, medium carbs diet where I ate breakfast, a lunch of 4 fried eggs, protein shake and dinner. I was working out 3 days a week and doing weights for an 60-75 minutes immediately followed by 10-20 minutes of swimming.
Starting weight in January 2018 was 254lbs and by end of May I was 264lbs
I did martial arts INSTEAD of gym for 3 years and even after 4-5 months of training I couldn't get to my previous best for 5 reps:
P.B Overhead Press: 45kg (100lbs), 2018 Overhead Press: 35kg (80lbs)
P.B. Barbell Row: 50kg (110lbs), 2018 Barbell Row: 40kg (90lbs)
P.B Bench: 65kg (150lbs) , 2018 Bench: 45kg (100lbs)
P.B. Squat: 100kg (220lbs), 2018 Squat: 70kg (150lbs)
P.B Deadlift: 110kg (245lbs), 2018 Deadlift: 90kg (200lbs)
My previous bests were when I was ~200lbs. I quit because I was told my squat technique is wrong and I didn't have the patience to learn it again: here are studies reiterating what I say
Is It Harder to Build Muscle When You Have More Body Fat?
I just swim instead now: a minimum of 600m per session 3x a week or (for the past 3 months due to lockdown ) walk 4 miles 5x a week. I'm 240lbs
