Business!

Druidus

Keeper of the Grove
Summer is here, and it's time I started a small business. Any ideas?

I thought maybe I'd do a pet business. Perhaps walking dogs, watching pets for people who go on vacation (going to the house twice a day to feed and play with the pet), pet training (focused on dogs. I'm good at training dogs.), and other pet-oriented activities.

I don't know how much I might make, but it's worth a shot. I've got nothing better to do for a month.

The dog walking idea is excellent, Druidus, but there's more money in selling hard drugs to very young school children. I urge you to consider it.

Sunstone, you are a sick puppy!:biglaugh: I think Druidus should give you a little training.Since you love animals so much Dru, I think that is a great idea. You might also try work at the local vet, or the pound. Maybe you will find that that is the type of work you want to do in life. Have fun!

We don't have a year round vet, sadly. We only have a seasonal vet, who comes up about 2-4 times a year. The pound is a horrible place. It's underfunded, so the dogs and cats are underfed and undercared for. The only reason I'd work there is to expose the corruption of the Nunavut government (legally, as an entity in charge of "animals" [as defined in law], the government of Nunavut cannot allow any of the animals to exist in prolonged distress, which it does.). Corrupt in many other ways too, sadly.
Maybe you will find that that is the type of work you want to do in life.
I've had zoology set in my mind since I was nine. Around fourteen, I added writing in. :D

I'm appalled that you would suggest such a thing as a holiday job.
Everyone knows that the kiddies are much easier to reach during term, when they're all at school and therefore a captive audience. You spend far too much time searching them out during the holidays for it to be a viable enterprise.

Good point, Lady Lazarus! I've just gained an insight into why my own summer job has proved to be so difficult despite that I've been hanging out at the school yard every day for several weeks now. That, and also sampling the product has left me a wretched wreck of my former self. Maybe Druidus ought to reconsider my advice to him and go into strong armed robbery instead.

Don't do anything that would become too successful. Remember, Big Business is the Devil!!:D

You NEVER sample the product. Honestly, would you eat cream buns all day if you had a cake shop?:tsk: No good can come of that.
I'm not sure about robbery though...unless you're someone who likes wearing a balaclava, it may get a bit claustrophobic after a while. Though I suppose it's a very good option for the person living in a cold climate.

Exactly! I've heard there's good money in terrorism...and a great life-insurance policy!

Dru, I think you'd be very happy if you worked with animals :) That sounds like a good idea to me. You know...how are you at photography? Work at the pound, and publish a series of photos. Similar to what happened with mental health institutions...oh, what was that lady's name...

You could add animal grooming in with the walking a feeding. I wouldn't trim the nails up to high though, as it can cause the animal to bleed very badly.
