Buying Art

Does anyone buy art?
What is your criteria in buying art?
Do you buy reproductions or original pieces?
Would you consider buying and displaying nudes?
Have you ever commissioned an artist to draw or paint a work of art?

One of the reasons I ask is that I am seriously thinking about purchasing a commissioned piece of artwork or comic page from one of my favorite artists (Frank Brunner) and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience about this.

What artist would you buy comic art from?
If you were to commission a piece what subject or idea would you ask an artist to draw?

We buy whatever appeals to us. I realize that sounds simplistic, but I feel art should have an effect on you every time you look at it or hear it. So if something has an effect on you, preferably a positive one, then one should purchase it if he or she can. I don't think about it much beyond the emotional appeal. If it's a cheap print, but it makes me happy, then I buy it.

Would you consider buying and displaying nudes?
Sure.

No, we've never done that. I wish you luck with your experience though! If this is your favorite artist, then you'll probably end up with something wonderful. :) Don't forget to come back and share it with us.
