I recall him for his anti-gun rants, but never watched'm.
I prefer that my Brits be more badger-like.

Wasn't he that guy from "America's Got Talent?" Never watch the cable, news-o-tainment channels, so I'm not very familiar with the talking heads they hire for their fluff broadcasts.

I watched Piers occasionally, but I liked Larry King quite a bit more. Piers is quite bright but highly opinionated, and I'm sure he ruffled a fair number of feathers. His rants on guns was well deserved but undoubtedly went too far with many Americans who are more concerned about their guns than the our atrocious death rate with them.

CNN's ratings have taken a hit over the last several years, and I believe at least part of this is that we have a rather large element of society that prefers yellow-journalism (news commentaries) over just the news. Even on the "nightly news" programs on the major networks, if you get 10 minutes of actual news, that's a good night. Unfortunately,as Cronkite had mentioned when retiring, all too many people prefer to have entertaining "news" than real news.

They said in the past that prime-time programs were roughly done at around a 7th grade level, but I have doubts that it's that high now. Anyone notice what Murdock has done to the once reputable "National Geographic Channel"? It appears to be more at the 7 year-old level than even the 7th grade level.

Any society that thinks that "Duck Dynasty" is somehow good programming is in deep trouble.

KT, you have to remember Larry King though, he was on for decades. Wore really nice stuff as well, not flash but pure class.

Now, I did not agree with everything the man said, but he was fair. He did not look the other way when his side was wrong. You can respect people like that.

Don't blame him. Blame the guys who hired him.
he was a long time British newspaper editor, turned celebrity.
His views are populist British press.
Just the wrong audience for him, and his mainly tabloid views on things.

Mind you he is an acquired taste even for us.
But at least he says what he believes, not just what people want to hear.

Here is the thing TW, I'm not trying to promote our way of doing things in the UK. Does that make any sense? I would move to your country if I want to live like that. I would never disobey your laws either.

Now for me PM was anti gun. I carry a gun. I have never broke any laws here in the States. He wants to change the laws and make me decide to change my way of life or become an outlaw doing what I have done my whole life. Thats bull crap! Don't punish a law abiding citizen for the actions of others. I have earned my rights and I am not about to change how I live for someone else to feel safer when the lawless will continue to do what they do unchallenged.

The criminals don't obey the laws. The States are violent and no law will change that. PM needs to go back to the UK.

Countries can and some have become less violent. Who would have thought that yesterday's Vikings are today's relatively non-violent Scandinavians? The proliferation of guns in American society simply is not making us any safer, so I agree with PM on this.

BTW, neither he nor I are "anti-gun", so someone saying as such simply isn't being truthful.

OK, I see your point. Here is mine, we left your country to live differently over here. If this place is not to your liking....move.

Quit trying to make every country on the planet the same. We already ran the English off once.

And here's my advice: know what you're talking about before posting nonsense, and then go the next step and try and stop stereotyping people, which is not the most brilliant nor the most honest thing to do.

Do you think the NRA is taking Morgan seriously? Go home Morgan we do not need or want your rantings about "our" country.

So sorry that you can't stand dissent that go against your own ethnocentric rants. Some of us actually like to hear from other people, even if we don't always agree with them, and even if they're furreners.
