Would you prefer they were all receiving welfare because they can't afford a place to live or have them live in a car? As to 10-15 hours that's how they get around paying for insurance which we pay even more for eventually due to emergency room visits instead of doctors visits. It still takes x people to run the place, employers will adjust.

Good for them. California is a strong state and I applaud them increasing the MW to $20 from $16.
There's 500,000+ fast food workers in the state, The firings are delivery workers and with the rise of delivery services, this move was inevitable.
You'll notice it's Democrats that put forth legislation to help the middle and lower classes, Republicans will be against this due to their preference of corporate policies.

Whatever effect a raise in the minimum wage will have on the cost of living will affect everyone across the board, people of all economic conditions. But the raise itself will only affect those getting paid the least (the minimum).

Well then lets stop giving the tax breaks to the rich and yes, prices will go up a little bit according to the labor vs other costs but not as much as the wage meaning that those earning the minimum will be better off and provide pressure upward from the bottom.
