Mark 10 and the story of the rich man is not about the money.

In Mar 10:23 Jesus saith unto his disciples: “How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!” Jesus say here that a richman can’t enter in the kingdom of God. But who can enter then? In Mat5:3 Jesus says: “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”. We have here the poor in spirit who inherit the kingdom and the riches that not. Who are the riches then? The people that have wealth in money? If the poors are the poors in spirit.

Let’s take Mar 10:21

“Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.”

When I read sell whatsoever thou hast I remember Mat 13:44-46:

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:

Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.”

What about the treasure in heaven?

Luk 12:33-34: “Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.

For where your treasure is, there will your hearth be also.”

And in 2 COR 12-15 Paul says: “” and I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.”

If the poors are the poors in spirit, then I think that the riches are the rich in spirit. What means to be rich in spirit. To have a lot of knowledge and teaching about. Remember that the rich man know very well about the commandments of God and he observed all these from his youth. Result form here that he is a very religious man, rich in teachings about OT and like Paul in Phi 3:6 “touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless”. But it’s not enough to inherit the kingdom of god. Why? Rom 2:13 “For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified”. The rich man try to justify by the deeds of law and when Jesus ask him to follow him he doesn’t want. He doesn’t disclaim his teachings and don’t follow Jesus. In Rom 3:20-22 paul speak about this things:

“Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

Even the righteousness of God wich is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:”

I remember such a rich man in NT. He is Nicodemus. And what say Jesus to him?!

John 3:3 “Jesus answered and said unto him. Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

In Mark 10:15 “Verily I say unto youm Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein”.

So… Born again, be like a child to enter in Kingdom of Heaven. Give away all the teachings, all that you know about salvation from men, and born again in Spirit, be like a child, with new mind, open to follow Jesus.

This is why the disciples are astonished out of measure. Because in their world everybody has great teachings and knowledge about God, they have the commandments. But all this things and theachings are interpretation of the men. This is why Jesus says “With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.”

Then in Mar 10:28 Peter realize that they left all and followed Jesus.

This is more brighter when we read John 6:67-69

“Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?

Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life.

And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.”

The needle and the camel? A camel can’t going trough the eye of a needle. It’s impossible. Like a man can’t enter in the kingdom of heaven if he doesn’t born again. It’s impossible. Jesus have the words of eternal life. Remember 2 Cor 8:9 “For ye know the grace or our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was RICH, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”

We that are poors in spirit to became rich.

Who are rich in Rev 3:17 find this “Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked. They trust in their wealth, they have a lot of knowledge, they do everything it’s possible to salvation, but they don’t know they are poor, they think they are rich. They are blinds, not see the truth, and they are naked (sinners).

In Mark 10:23-25 Jesus spoke about how hardly a rich man, who trust in riches, enter in the kingdom of God. But in Mat 5 Jesus spoke about who inherit the kingdom of heaven. The poors in spirit and which are persecuted for righteousness sake. Logically if the poor in spirit inherit the kingdomof god and the riches naturally don’t or hardly, then the poor in spirit need to be also poor naturally. But I can’t find rich in spirit in bible. I don’t say that poor in spirit has no knowledge. They just doesn’t know that they are rich, like the riches doesn’t know that they are poor. That is find in Rev 2:9 where we can find this “I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou are RICH) and I know the blasphemy of them say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan”. And again in Rev 3:17 find this “Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.”

Just always remember what Paul says in 2 COR 8:9. Jesus became poor for us that through hios poverty we became rich. This is the riches that we need. Through Jesus Christ. Why Jesus say to the rich man in Mark 10 to give to the poor and thou shalt have treasure in heaven? Why symbolically the merchant in Mat 13 sold all that he has and bought that pearl, that treasure? How Jesus became poor, to make us rich? You know that answer.

U come up with how we can obtain the knowledge of God. It’s just a single answer. FROM GOD! Look at Mat 16:17 “And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath nor revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.” Obtaining the knowledge of God is just from revelation from our Father in heaven. When Peter says in John 6:67-69 that Jesus have the words of eternal life, it’s again a revelation form God. Peter says the same thing in John 6 and in Mat 16: “… Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

My question: Why the rich man doesn’t follow Jesus in Mark 10? Let me answer this. Because he has “great possessions”. He doesn’t want to follow Jesus, because he don’t have the revelation that Jesus is the Christ. Not because he has so much money. He want eternal life. That is why he ask Jesus how he can get it. But he doesn’t have the revelation. He want to do it with his own power. He says “all these have I observed from my youth”. He is religious. It doesn’t matter that he is rich or not naturally.

You speak about the ten virgins a little bit in your last post. I don’t know how you see that parable, but I want to describe you how I see that.

You know that the wise virgins took oil in their vessels and the foolish not. The oil is used to anointing. The anointing came from God. The oil in the lamps make light in the dark. Without enough oil we can’t go through darkness. We can’t go trough darkness without light. But what the foolish one do. They go to buy for themselves. From who that sell it. It’s very interesting that Rev 13:17 says “And that no man might buy or sell, save he that the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name”. I ask You. From where the foolish Virgins buy oil? Who are they that sell it? In Rev 18:11 we find “And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more” You find they merchandise oil. OK. The foolish virgins buy from this merchants. But the wise virgins doesn’t buy. 1John 2:20 “But ye have an unction from th Holy One, and ye know all things”. The wise virgins doesn’t buy. They have the unction. 1John 2:27 “But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that ANY MAN TEACH YOU: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even is hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.” The oil symbolized in Mat 25 is the truth, that teached to us, that came from God. The truth is the light that eliberate us. The problem with the foolish virgins is Mat 25:10 “And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.” And 1John 2:28 says “And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.”

I want to speak about the virgins because it’s have relevance in Mark 10. Mat25 is about the true and false teachings. In Mark 10 we find that the rich man has great possession. He has a little light because he observed the law of god. But he doesn’t believe that Jesus is the Christ because he has false teachings. He is in darkness. He doesn’t has light on the scripture to see Jesus and the fulfill of the scripture. In Mat25 the foolish virgins gone to buy oil. From who sell it. They doesn’t have oil from God, they buy from men. They accumulate possessions if you want. That is why they say I am rich. In Revelation God speak to the church. His church. The virgins.

There is no random places in the bible. Everything is interconnected. 2Pet 1:20 “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation” God is spirit. And the holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost”. (2Pet 1:21). If God is spirit then all the things that he spoked to us is spiritually. Is not from this world, it’s not naturaly. But he speaks in a natural form, like the parables, to us. Why? Because we can understand just in an extrapolation from natural (that we understand because we see it) to spiritual (Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the hearth of man). 1Cor 2:14 “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are FOOLISHNESS unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” It’s wrong to try to understand or make interpretation on bible in natural form. God reveal us the scripture, and when this is happening we understand that all the things wrote in bible, that is the word from God, is only spiritually. The natural just help us to understand. But the understand not depend on us. Just for who God discover the truth. And the truth is not naturally. It have spiritual meanings. Everywhere in the scripture. It’s wrong to try understand natural things. It’s just not have any meanings. That is why someone who start to read the bible not understand anything. They try to understand naturally. 2 Cor 5:16 “Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.” Because God condemned sin in the flesh (Rom 8:3).

Then if we think naturally we search for bible and join verses from scriptures to show what we want to say. But spiritually not we speak, interpret or understand, but God revealed to us.

Luke 16:11-13 “If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the TRUE RICHES?

And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own?

No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despite the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon”.
