Can anyone on here play the Irish Whistle?

Hey guys,

I've just passed my Scottish Grade 5 Exam in the Irish Whistle and was wondering if anyone here could play as well as me.

I'm just a freakin' genius, you know, I'm the equivalent of a C'Tan, (you'll understand this if you play Warhammer 40,000 and have a Necron Army.)

I'm just sooooooo damn good. Lol. *head pops with pressure within*

I have a tin whistle, but I'm pretty terrible at it.

Psst, by the way, C'tan don't scare me. High point cost just makes it that much easier to phase you out. Now come the next Necron codex, when C'tan are removed and remade for Apocalypse, then I might be afraid.

Man, you know what you're talking about. But just a quick point, the C'Tan called Nightbringer is actually really hard to beat, as I've learned from experience.

Deceiver is just plain crap, and I don't intend to waste my precious money on him. Now bring me the night (Nigthbringer) and I may just be happy. Anyway, noone can beat my army, man, I've got three freakin Monoliths on the field.

The Nightbringer is indeed hard as hell to kill at T8 with 5 wounds, but he's 360 points, which means there's 360 points that don't prevent phasing out.

3 monoliths are annoying as hell to take out, but that's 705 points worth of things that don't prevent phasing out. In a 2000 point game, that's a third of your army, and I don't even need to touch them to win. Don't get me wrong, if it weren't for Necron phase out rules that would hurt like hell, but as it stands, the trick is to just ignore them and hope all the little necrons die before you get monolith stomped.

Lol, well, the necron rules may be changing within the next couple of years. GW's thinking on giving the whole rulebook a little shape up, so I wouldn't be too comfortable just yet.

Well the whole rulebook just got updated recently, and a new Necron codex is in the works right now. Here are some previews:
-More than a single HQ choice kinda. Necron Lords can now be of various strengths. Like how in the current Space Marine codex you can choose a captain or a master, the new Necron Lords will have 3 or so choices.
-More than a single Troops choice. I don't know what it's gonna be, but you'll finally have an option to take something other than a Necron Lord and two units of Warriors for your mandatory 2HQ1Troop.
-No more C'tan. Like I said, they're beefing them up and releasing them as an apocalypse datasheet. There may also be a way to temporarily transform your lord into a weaker C'tan, like the Essence of the Nightbringer/Deceiver in Dawn of War.

It's gonna be good fun. Not sure when it'll be, just not October or next May, since the new Marine codex is October 4th and May will be Imperial Guard. Anyways, do you ever play Vassal40k?

No, I don't think so, what is Vassal40K? I just play the basic game of 1500 points, and I ain't particualrly good at that.

Man, I'm a Necron freak though. I'd say that the Scarabs were good if I had the chance. But Nightbringer is good, deceiver is just crap.

You should try and get a game, I got addicted to it. I now play it online.

Terms accepted. I don't play fantasy, just 40k, Inquisitor, and Dark Heresy mostly (and occasionally Gorkamorka), but the only real army I have is 1500 point Heresy Era Death Guard Loyalists (Pre-Istvaan).

Black Templar are ridiculous now with the changes to preferred enemy, running, and the new mixed armor rules. Being able to move 6, then run up to 6, then still zeal, and reroll ALL misses in close combat, makes a infantry mob a pain to fight. At least you don't get the new marine codex rules, or you'd be WAY overpowered.

If you find the Deceiver bad, you clearly haven't tried wrecking orks with him. Yeah, he's really no good, but it's funny how effective he can be versus small ork mobs.

BTW, anybody play Dawn of War: Soulstorm?

My friend plays Orks, he won the Australian tournament last year. Is not fair, mobs of 40 suck. once they reach combat its all over no matter who you are. He took down necrons in the final, his Zzap guns took out the C'tan first turn haha and a lord the next go.
Best strategy is not to put all your eggs in one basket, i used to use an emperors champion and a chaplain duked up to rip apart squads in 1 turn, then i figured out its best to use those points making the rhino a little more useful. Popping smoke is under rated.

Mobs of 30 do suck, unless you pack plenty of ordnance. Sure, 30 boys running at you is a pain, but a single demolisher cannon from a vindicator will wreck it pretty quickly. Also, you play Black Templar, so you get access to Land Raider Crusaders, which will ruin an ork player's day, especially with the changes to vehicle damage that came with 5th edition.

And yeah, always have a backup plan. I personally like drop pod marines just because of the flexibility it gives, deploying anywhere on the board I want. My current strategy has been to drop Assault cannon/Heavy Flamer dreadnoughts in pods with locator beacons straight onto the objectives to clear them on the first turn, then drop in my tactical squads in the beacon's range to take the objective. If I can't clear it fast enough though, there's always a place that could use 10 marines falling out of the sky.

This became a warhams thread pretty quickly.
