Can good people go to hell?

So me and my friend were talking about religions. And he said asked me do I respect the 10 commandments and listed them. I answered yes to all. I do respect them. Then, he asked do I help other people. I answered Yes. He asked me what do I do. I said: Today I helped my brother with picking up 30 min of his trash so when he come home he doesn't have to. I also cleaned my mom's room as a surprise. altogether about 2 h. I then asked "What is hell?". He explained it and I asked who goes to hell. He said: Non-Christians. So I respect the commandmetns and am good to people (In my opinion) and I do think Jesus did miracles, but he is not the ONLY way to god, and I would go to hell. Is that correct? Just wandering, I don't really belive in hell ;)

I don't believe in a literal hell, as being a place that has real construction, that a person goes to after death.

I do believe in an experience of hell and/or hell as a state of being. I believe a person can experience hell in the here and now.

Regarding a person "going" to hell, I believe the world is full of people telling other people they "are going to hell" when only the person that constructs that hell and the person (people) that accept and believe in that hell, can actually have the experience of that hell.

All people can experience the feeling of fragmentation, isolation, torment, regret, lost/inverted love, etc. Those are hell experiences, IMO.

That is different from a place you go to for seeing things differently from the person you are talking to.

I used to believe in a hell, but not anymore.
I think such doctrines are designed more to keep people within
the confines of a particular religious system than anything
else. It's a form of crowd control.

Hell is the escalation of thoughts which comes from the suffering self to have a respond of what can be true in your after life or if not, why not.

I understand hell in scripture is literally separation from god. So the only hell anyone experiences is if their actions and speech separates them from god. If it doesn't as a good person, I don't see why not.

If you are asking for a Christian perspective, then belief and following Jesus Christ is the foundation of all good deeds a Christian does. Without that foundation, I don't know if good deeds are considered "good" in the same boat as one who follows Christ. As a result, that's why many protestants say good deeds won't buy you into heaven while Catholicism is more good deeds are a compliment to one's faith in Christ.

In general, I don't see why not. Coming from specific religions, without their foundation, how can one be "good" in the eyes of a Christian god who sees only sin unless he or she believes in his son, type of thing.

So, yes and no. Depends on your foundation.

Justice is when the punishment is proportionate to the offense.
No act committed by a human could be equivalent to an eternity of physical and psychological torture.
Thus the concept of hell is unjust.
If there is a god, they would be a being of pure love and pure logic.
Therefore anything devoid of compassion or reason cannot be of god.

Well, if you read John 3:16-18 you will find out who will be saved and who will not.

Following commandments isn't enough. You need to do something to rid yourself of sin entirely. Only Jesus can do that.

Sin is in the mind. It is basically an imaginary cure. What happened to enjoying life to the fullest without that sin crap?
