Can worship of celebrities be considered idoltary?

In this day and age, the youth look more to the stars of the world, be it movie stars, athletes, musicians, etc
Do you see this as wrong at all? I don't, I think people should follow what they want to follow, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else.

WORSHIP of them is wrong, as is ENVY ; trying to emullate them and using them as a gauge is not 'wrong'. But I doubt that many of us would wish to be clones of the popular stars - they most often have as many - if not more- problems than we lesser mortals.:)

Not idoltary? No.
You just can't get too overboard on people. When you start to live, breath, and look like Britney Spears..seek mental help.

I don't see it as a problem. As long as they don't want to be just like Marilyn Manson when they grow up. I did hear alot of little kids wont pay attention in school or to the work, because when they grow up thier gonna be basketball (or football, rock-stars, etc.) when they grow up. That is also a big problem. But if its something like learning to play a bass guitar because that one groups bass is cool, thats really no problem.

... What's wrong with Manson? Do you know anything about him more than "ew he's creepy!"?

I think it's just sad when people worship celebrities, not idoltary.

Hehe you should have been around in the Sixties, when the Beatles made their real impact - girls would just faint at the sight of them.

Now I ADMIRE and have GREAT RESPECT for both Paul McCartney, and Cliff Richard.;)

Do you find something wrong with kids looking up to their parents, or teachers? If not, why do you see something wrong with kids looking up to successful movie stars, athletes, etc...? The act is no different.
