Can you answer my post?About Psalms 90:10-12

In Psalms 90:10-12 it says we die and then we fly away.Instead of just we die and our souls fly away.If you notice in Psalms 90:10-12 it sounds like it is talking in the personal tense(we fly away) and not the impersonal tense(and then our souls fly away). Does anybody see what I am talking about?

It’s a metaphor for the fact that, like “time flies”, death takes us away all too soon it seems.

When you are young, you never think you will get old.....but it happens so quickly. God can teach us how to make our days count by gaining his wisdom....and saving ourselves a lot of trouble.

i understand Psalms are poetic work. human essence is soul - spirit - mind, it does not die.

There is not much benefit in trying to interpret ancient scripture in any meaningful way in terms of what 'flying away' means today. That is the problem of written any of ancient scripture other than in the ancient context, which very often has no meaning in a constructive way today.

Could the 'we' mean that Angles are involved in the 'fly away' part?

It's very ironic for a Baha'i to talk about interpreting a text in its ancient context.

Ancient context only from the perspective of how the ancients viewed their scripture. Baha'is do not interpret ancient text to apply to the present understanding of God, knowledge of the scriptures and Revelation. Our knowledge evolves over time, and the text of the ancient religions is in the context of the time they were revealed.

It seems to me that you *overthink* too many things Frank...keep it simple....remember that Jesus said we had to be 'like young children' in our approach to spiritual things.....what are the desirable traits of young children that Jesus referred to?

They are meek, teachable, accepting and trusting. They usually have no pre-conceived ideas to fight with new information....they are like sponges. God doesn't say to have that approach with the teachings of men....but with the teachings of God through his word, its a must. The devil is a sower of seeds of doubt.....don't let him plant them in you.

Obey God in all things and you can never go wrong. If you deliberately disobey him, he will abandon you to reap what the devil has sown and you have allowed to take root in your heart.

You have to settle on one faith and accept its teachings. To continue to flit between religious ideas, all you do is confuse yourself and we keep getting the same kinds of questions over and over...it gets tiresome.

If you want answers then accept the ones you are given from the Bible.

There are a lot of metaphors in Psalms 90: 1 -12 for life and death, I wouldn't read anything literal into "fly away".
