for one person ?

Here it's could be family to live with $500 for month , if they don't spend (wasting) it's could reach 2 month .

As I said, many people have to make do that way. We actually have a major social program, the "Bolsa Família" ("Family Bonus") that is paid for families whose average (per person) monthy earnings do not exceed about 35 dollars. They may receive up to R$ 336 (about 89 dollars) in a family of five people.

Minimum wage for a month of legal work with a 40-hour work week is R$ 880 (about 220 dollars). But it is very demeaning to attempt to survive with that little money.

Nice too meet you , so where you live it's not enough to live by $500 for month !

I would not think so, definitely not by myself. I mean I could get SOMEPLACE with poor utilities and eating ramen I'm sure, but that doesn't really count to me. I make a few thousand a month now, but since I'll be living with my girl we can't even make the transition because she can't find a job that pays enough, like at least $1,000 a month if you want to be safe. My last manager made like $1200 a month and still lived with like four guys in able to be secure financially.

Here (Algeria) a small family "5 persons" can live with $500 or 500 Euros for month .

here $1200 is make you live very comfortable life for small familly "5 persons".

$2200 would make you feel that you are rich lol

Hi all

I just want to know if 500 dollars enough to live for month in different country by different currency costs (by convert it to your currency)

for exemple :
I am from Algeria :

500 dollars converted to Algerian currency , cost 52954 Dinars

52945 Dinars make live very normal month in Algeria "like a little king" .

edited to add currency converter:
check this site :

my friend from USA , said "he spend 500 dollars for a week !!! and it's not enough to live in USA because of taxes !!!"

can you live normal by 500 dollars in month ?

I think I could but it wouldn't last my wife a day :)

Agree though taxes are the largest obstacle to the poor getting ahead, it's not just the direct hit on basics like energy, food, housing, but the hit on opportunities, the USA taxes employers more than most places in the world

Brazil is a special country similar to South Africa. Both of these countries have full human rights for every citizen on paper ,legally but in fact, the well off live under the protection of walls reaching up to 4 meters height if they are not electro-razor wired protected whilst the poor is only under the protection of a so called God. Sure, that's something rather than nothing. But does it help? I am sorry but I guess, not.

May God help the poor over there. 89 dollars per a month for a family even on moon is a joke.
Having full human rights on paper does not mean that you could have lived like a human.

It is quiet bizarre... When the communist leaders of East Europe visited the capitalist west Europe in early 50'S,they were shocked to see that the laborers owned their own automobiles and automatic housewares whereas the anti classicism produced nothing but propaganda.

Not me but my brother has been to Algeria for lots of times as he works for aviation. He told me that the coastal well off neighborhoods over there in Algeria are no different than Nice or Cote D'Azure of France. But when you just drive a few miles away of these neighborhoods, it is typical 3rd world. There is such a big gap between classes which is the reason of every problem. Yes, you can live with probably much more less than 500 usd/month, but is this really living ? I am pretty much not sure it is.

While I was working in Saudi Arabia, our Saudi national securities/door keepers ( completely uneducated and illiterate) were able to buy brand new Honda. So that's why you hardly expect a social conflict in Saudi Arabia, just as an example.

If you are rich,it is perfectly accepted and normal to own a Maserati. But if you are not ,you should be at least able to buy a second hand Suzuki .

I am an economist,I studied it and I am being paid for what I know about economics . It is noway possible to survive with 500 usd/month for a family if you don't consider surviving means only a shanty house with some drinking water and rice and cheap useless electronics and textiles coming from China .

When you convert $500 to Algerian dinnars you can survive with in Algeria, because the food is not expensive .

for exemple here , it's possible that you can feed your familly a perfect food by $250 (27500 Dinnars) for month . but in West it's may take one week for one person or two persons .

So
$2000 or Euros would make will reach very comfortable life here, rich man !

Because I know many famillies were living in Europe have villas, and live perfect life.(they retirement in Algeria)
