Catholic Horror Movie

Has anyone watched 'Midnight Mass'? In an early episode of “Midnight Mass,” the new horror miniseries from Mike Flanagan ( “The Haunting of Hill House,” “Doctor Sleep”), Father Paul Hill (Hamish Linklater) sits across from Riley Flynn (Zach Gilford).

I watched the mini series, but do not agree with this review, as with its many twists it was bizarre, I thought although in line with others horror films.

My wife and I have been watching it. It's a little slow - but other than that, I have no real criticism. It is interesting enough. Although not being religious myself, I have no idea who they may be insulting with what. Blasphemy, in other words, is not a consideration in my world. There is no such thing as far as I am concerned - so nothing of that sort would bother me outright. The only thing I might take note of is actual factual inaccuracies - if I even knew enough to catch them, that is.

I usually hate horror, but I was actually intrigued by the trailer for this. I may give it a shot if it's not too scary or gory and more just suspenseful or macabre.

I watched and like it a lot. To me, it's more a drama with some elements of psychological horror thrown in. It touches strongly on the themes of death, grief and faith and how these three things intersect. My favorite scene is when the two main character, one an atheist and former Catholic, the other a former atheist turned Catholic discuss of their respective belief on what happens when you die. The acting is excellent and is really what drives this series which can be slow at time.
