Why I believe Catholicism is in fact paganism.

When the Romans accepted Christianity,
they didn't leave their former religion,
which was paganism,
but they mixed Christianity with paganism,
and so Catholicism was born.

Catholicism is a mix of Christianity and paganism,
therefore you see paganism in Catholicism,
therefore you see a Jesus who looks like Zeus,
therefore you see Christmas on December 25,
therefore you see Odin as Santa Claus.

Catholicism speaks to the dead,
like paganism,
Catholicism bows down to images,
like paganism,
Catholicism makes images of God,

The was a smart and practical choice. Christianity became the official religion of Rome in the 4th century AD. It had always been custom for Rome to allow the countries of its empire to retain many of their local religions and customs, since the made it easier to govern. When Christianity became the official religion, this was done in a transitional way, based on blending and not forced down the throat.

Even today, Christianity is all over the world and still allows local customs. All masses are not done in Latin. It strength is based on not trying to lock step everyone, but rather following the message of Jesus to love your neighbor and forgiveness of sins. Lock step is not very forgiven. Just look at the DNC. That is an angry, disingenuous, and paranoid religion that is losing members.

I mean, if that's your argument all religions are "paganism" because each and every one of them has "pagan" roots. But as a contemporary Pagan I most certainly do not consider any of the Abrahamic monotheisms (Catholicism or otherwise) to be "pagan" in the least.

We've seen such trash posted here many times at RF.

Let me make a suggestion: if you don't like Catholicism, then don't go to a Catholic Church.
