Cause of antisemitism

Welcome to the Opera
Of course it does.
Can you explain how?

Apparently you didn't bother looking at any of it or you would know.
I did and it pertains to Christianity and not indigenous Europeans themselves.

[quotesRomans? Etruscans? Now your contradicting yourself: if the Jews were already in ancient Italy at the time of the Etruscans, it would follow that their presence there predated the existence of Rome in any of it's forms.[/quote]
I did research of my own and it turns out that most Jewish communities came into existence after the rise of the Roman empire.

As far as the Greeks and ancient Celts, show me any recorded instances of antisemitism stemming from those cultures. Remember what the topic of this thread is supposed to be.
You asked me to name civilisations in Europe that existed prior to the Jew migrating to Europe and I did. However, there are several instances in ancient Greek history that are of an antisemitic nature.

Yes, but it would take a long time and a lot of typing and I'm guessing it would be a wasted effort.

No "it" doesn't, and no you didn't.

But thanks for showing me who I'm dealing with.

I suppose I should thank you for showing me who I'm dealing with as well.

Hmmm... Honestly, I couldn't tell you the main "cause" of antisemitism off the top of my head; it's roots run deep, and have been that way for a very long time. I'm sure you can find some answers with a little research in those regards. =)

As for the holocaust itself, it wasn't an isolated incident. Folks in Europe had been persecuting Jews for hundreds of (maybe even more than a thousand) years. There have been many incidents in the past where Jews were killed en-masse for one reason or another. Hitler simply dug up the antisemitic predisposition that the majority already had, and he was then able to use it as an ideological weapon to further his control over the German population (this fervor enabled him to set the holocaust into motion, and the rest is history).

Your reply is something one NEVER reads in the western media because that points directly to the church and the hatred that it kept alive for centuries. Even you did not specify why Folks were persecuting the jews - that's like saying Dalits have been persecuted in India for centuries without mentioning Hinduism - FYI - I am a Hindu, myself - but that would never happen when mentioning the Dalits - the west quite happy to raise religion whenever and wherever it wants except when it comes to its own

There's absolutely no need to be rude. I tried googling Jews being hunted during Christmas, but nothing came up.. I'm aware that Jews have been persecuted (and, surprisingly, they aren't the only people persecuted in history), but you can't live in someone else's country and have a very alien culture to theirs and not expect people to be suspicious of you.

It's used as a very derogatory term all the time.

Er ever heard of the Amish?

African-Americans not only look different but they also have a different culture - so they should be persecuted also? Amazing how when one is discriminated, one gets instant enlightenment but being in the majority immediate justification of hate

Saying they have an alien culture - which started first, the hate or the alien culture. The hate started first - blamed for the death of Jesus and abused and killed - Jews were not allowed to own lands - farming was the occupation of the vast majority back in the day - they were forced into bookkeeping and money lending - these brilliant people simply used their disadvantage into an advantage - they refused to be kept down as other minorities have

Hitler used Jews, a minority in Germany, as a scapegoat for ALL of Germany's
post war issues. A collapsing economy, inability to compete with the other industrial
nations at that time, shortages of food, medicine & skilled labor, the huge DEBT
incurred from fighting the 1st War, and the RESTRICTIVE SANCTIONS imposed
on Germany after the Armistice ( 1st war).
Germany was grossly restricted, militarily & economically, by the treaties after the end
of hostilities of WW1.
( note: Germany didn't "hide" the building of battleships or an Airforce very well. The "world" did little to protest Germany's outright violation of the Armistice that ended WWI. But was there really an Armistice at all?)

Just because Trump blames Mexicans and Muslims it doesn't mean that everyone should nod and follow his hate - it takes 2 hands to clap. Minorities are always easy to hate - they have little power and can't hit back. They are easy scapegoats - fact is that the hate was already there - nurtured by the church for over 2,000 years

I didn't say that they should be persecuted because they're different.

The culture started first. Antisemitism goes far back before the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Err... What? There are many (western) documentaries out there that point out the antisemitism in Christianity's history (that's how I first learned about it).

Even you did not specify why Folks were persecuting the jews

I didn't feel that I needed to, since I felt it was pretty self evident that Christians were the ones doing it (and for religious reasons a lot of the time). =/ Given that fact, however, I think it would be faulty to attribute the reasons for all of this persecution purely on a religious basis; there were other factors too (look how any group of people associated as "gypsies" were treated back then, for instance).

the west quite happy to raise religion whenever and wherever it wants except when it comes to its own

I'm sorry, but that's just not true. =/

Imagine a middle eastern version of this featuring Allah...

Hello to all,
Antisemitism is a subset of a larger issue-- prejudice. Prejudice has been a subject of study in the field of psychology. One of the best known books on the subject is by Gordon Allport, entitled, The Nature of Prejudice. Many factors play a part in prejudice, such as differences in language (accents), appearance (skin color, eye shapes, etc.), historical factors, and psychological factors, such as qualities within ourselves that we have trouble accepting. For example, the inner dark qualities of ourselves (selfishness, hate, sexual feelings we've been taught are bad, etc.) are projected onto those with dark skin tone-- what we cannot face in ourselves are unconsciously projected onto others who symbolically represent it in some way; we hate and disparage them, instead of ourselves.

Looking at antisemitism, Jewish people have been historically represented in such a way that people can project their associated negative feelings onto them. Hitler may have used the Jewish people as a scapegoat for their genocide (the Holocaust), but that does not mean he did not genuinely believe them to be what he said of them (rather than just a political ploy), having fallen prey to his own irrational prejudice toward them.

Rogers and Hammerstein, to their great credit, in their production of South Pacific, pointed out how prejudice is perpetuated from generation to generation in their song, They Have To Be Carefully Taught, whose lyrics are:

You've got to be taught
To hate and fear,
You've got to be taught
From year to year,
It's got to be drummed
In your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made,
And people whose skin is a diff'rent shade,
You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught before it's too late,
Before you are six or seven or eight,
To hate all the people your relatives hate,
You've got to be carefully taught!

In the case of the Jewish people, there has been a concerted effort by the Greek Orthodox Church to disparage Jewish people because of a dark secret the GOC has been keeping for centuries. They have stolen and are secretly using a holy artifact that belongs to the Jewish people. They use this artifact during the Holy Fire ceremony each Orthodox, Easter Saturday in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, in Jerusalem, Israel. You can learn more about out this unholy desecration here:

Although there are several factors affecting antisemitism, as discussed, a large part of the historical animosity toward the Jewish people has been generated and fed by the Greek Orthodox Church. If you find this disgusting and wish to help to right this great wrong, please act to have the police or other authorities closely investigate what goes on during the Holy Fire ceremony, especially the secret tunnel below the tomb room, from where the Ark is moved to and from the church. Investigation will disclose the truth, and help to quell the false information the GOC has promulgated that promotes antisemitism.
