Celibacy in spiritual lifestyle

Spirit of Light

Be who ever you want
I know. That's the view that I'm pitying.

What do you mean by "deeper form of spiritual life" and what makes it "spiritual" (or "deep")?
Why pity it when it is done with intetion?

To live deeper spiritual life is to have full focus on the spiritually aspect and have nothing/very little to do with the mundane lifestyle. similar to monastic life, except that one live in a normal house with family.

Because asceticism for no good reason is pitiful.

What is your understanding (not your view) on living in celibasy when living a spiritual life?

When both people in a relationship live a spiritual life, and live in celibasy, what is your view on it?

Celibacy is the Highway for spiritual lfie. But only when you can handle it.

If I am one of them, and both chose this way and are happy with it, I think it is great.

Absolutely not. The priesthood attracts pedophiles because it gives them access to children in a protected role. Being denied sex doesn't make them pedophiles. If that were the case, it would be like saying all those poor boys who "can't get any" from the girls when they are teens, become rapists. These behaviors are entirely unrelated to a lack of sex, or homosexuality, etc. It's the same thing with why leadership roles in the boy scouts are sought out by predators: free access to vulnerable children.

The priesthood also attracts would be rapists. Nun rape is just now coming to the headlines in India, South America, and Africa. Why the church would put a priest in charge or even around a convent is beyond me. Can't the Mother Superiour be in charge. The traditional monasteries are male only or female only.

Spiritual aspect of life, study the teachings of the religion one follow, in my case Buddhist teaching called Dharma, and live by the teaching, meaning incorporate it in to once life.

There are plenty of Christians, Buddhists, and Hindus endlessly telling us this, but they never explain why!

Because living in celibasy make one more focused on the spiritual part of life, how to actually live as the teaching teach is the best way to obtain the wisdom within the religion one is following. to let go of the human mundaine lifestyle and 100% be able to focus on the path

Spiritual aspect of life,
By "spiritual aspect," you mean "spiritual aspect?" Helpful.

Unless one of those teachings is "be celibate," I fail to see what celibacy has to do with any of that.

That may well be true in many cases, but I'll give you the mystical explanation from my sampradaya, just to counter your statement. In some schools there most certainly is an explanation. Nobody needs to accept said explanation, (obviously) however.

Semen, and more importantly, the energy within it, when held back, is transmuted. It takes some time, but eventually, this transmutation of that force, at the muladara chakra, propels the kundalini force up the sushumna, and not downwards as it is when expelled. So long term monastics practicing this yoga have the kundalini force coiled at a higher level ... permanently. In my school it's considered a necessary practice for the deeper nirvikalpa samadhi to occur. (A very rare occurrence these days on this planet.)

(Not here to debate, just to show that there are explanations.)

Celibacy is fine I suppose. I believe that each person should be able to live their lives as they see fit (so long as no harm is done to others).
In my beliefs though, sex is something spiritual as well.
I believe that the sensuality of life should not be treated as base and lower.

Spiritual life is to take away all the wrongdoing and the negative one think, act and speak.
To live in celibacy mean there is less sexual thoughts arise in the mind and more easy to study and live by the teaching

I've read similar things in Daoist writings about holding back in order to build spiritual energy.

I've seen you be very negative in other threads... even argue for positions I'd consider cruel. If celibacy is supposed to rid you of "wrongdoing and negativity," it doesn't seem to be working.

Outside of the monastic orders themselves, it's not spoken of much. There is a valid reason for that, as it's not meant for everyone. Of a billion Hindus, there are only 3 million sannyasins. So that's 3 people in a thousand. The vast majority of people despite a spiritual ego that might speak to the contrary, simply aren't ready for it. So there are two levels of teaching, one for those who can, and one for those who can't. But of course we also have the belief in reincarnation, so we (the soul 'we') all one day will be very ready, and it will be a natural outcome of many lives well lived.

When this 'knowledge' is put in the wrong (not ready) hands or when it's misunderstood, suffering can result, and the good Catholic fathers are an example of that.

Celibacy really works by choice only, it doesn't work as a job requirement. Though if you're lucky enough to be a type of asexual, the problem is pretty much solved for you and saves a lot of time and energy wasted.

I thought that to be quite obvious. Nowadays we have google, should be a breeze to find out.

If someone is interested to go "celibate" he will "Google till he knows"
If someone is interested to go "sex life" he will avoid using "Google to find out about celibacy"

Sexuality can be a religious act and be seen as spiritual. Celibacy has been known to cause problems in some religions.
