Celibacy vow

I just made one to the Divine for a period of 3 years. I've considered this for quite some time now. Over a year I've thought bout this. I decided to make it today on Valentine's day cuz I found it funny to make a celibacy vow on Valentine's day and cuz I want to focus on myself and not relationships. Also I feel any guys that I reject will respect me saying I have a vow of celibacy rather then me saying I ain't interested in them cuz I'm asexual. Possibly not but that's my hope.

I cover my hair a lot of the time when going out in public when I want to for different reasons. Now I shall keep it covered when at home too as well as in public and only rarely not cover it(like if I would be in danger covering it) in honor of this vow.

Our parish priest explained in his sermon yesterday the origins of Valentine's Day. Seems St. Valentine was a c.3rd priest in Rome who, according to legend, was put to death for defying an ordinance from the Emperor Claudius forbidding young men from marrying, as he was raising conscripts to fight invaders and by law could only conscript unmarried men. This ordinance was in force for several years and Valentine continued to marry couples in secret during that time.

Whatever the truth of the details of the legend, it seems his execution (or burial) was on 14th Feb, which happens also to be the date considered in older times to be first day of spring, i.e. the start of the mating season for the birds etc. So, putting the two together, St Valentine became associated with loving couples.

Yeah I know. Which is why I found my vow to be ironic to make today so I'll remember when it was made. Valentines day is associated with romance. I swore for the opposite.
