Do you support adding a centrist-only forum section?

We have conservative-only and liberal-only forum sections, but those of us who identify as neither and hold a mixture of conservative and liberal views don't have a centrist-only forum.

So, would you be interested in a centrist sub-forum or not?

I voted no just to be spiteful because my idea for a far-right forum was shot down even though it got a far amount of support and also because a public LGBT forum still has not been made even though most posters wanted one.

I wouldn’t mind an Independent political forum since there are more of them than Dems and Rebubs but they could be liberal leaning or conservative leaning or even both so that’s a tough thing to decide who is who.

Why not just vote based on whether you think we should have one or not?
I don't understand giving other people the power to determine your actions.

Meh...anyways....we're on the same side on this, so...

Yes I would. I've actually suggested it before.

The only relevant vote here is 'Yes, and I'm a centrist', I think, so I'm not gonna vote. If there's enough demand, and we have no other objections, sure.

First we have to define 'centrist'.

Good luck with that. We still haven't even defined socialism or liberalism or conservatism and there are disputes over who can post in those sections.

Sure, why not? I'm not sure what they would talk about, but I'll leave that to them to figure out. Their problem; not mine.

Self-identification, I guess!

What the heck is a centrist?

Someone who doesn't vote?

In Australian politics it would more commonly be called a swinging voter, I guess.
But if you start thinking of it in other terms (economic, for example) it's even trickier to define.

What is a "centrist" precisely, when you have a forum with an international user-base, as opposed to country-specific?

In America, the centre-ground might include folks who support the Affordable Care Act but not universal payer-healthcare. Almost everywhere else in the Western world, where we already have single-payer, that would be a socially unacceptable, fringe, right-wing perspective. I can't imagine anyone claiming to be centrist, as a Brit, yet not unilaterally backing universal healthcare through the tax system.

As for myself, I sometimes identify as a "centrist"...but I'm not entirely sure if I would be viewed in this way by others. Some people might judge me to be too far left - in that I am pro-immigration, pro-EU, anti-nationalist, pro-trade unions and collective bargaining, very much pro-welfare state, support regulatory alignment across borders, in favour of land value tax and higher income tax for top-earners, believe the most stringent restrictions possible should be placed upon gun ownership etc.

Others might view me as too "right-wing" given that I am equally for free trade agreements and emphatically opposed to protectionist tariffs, prefer low corporation tax (to draw overseas investment) and foreign intervention when I deem it warranted.

I could go on but the rub is that centrism is highly subjective.

There isn't just two views, and even within these two there are disagreements so why can't centrists have their own forums?

I don't identify as centrist but I vote yes, given there's enough demand for it. Maybe a trial run and if no one uses it then close it?
