True. It's one thing to let a dog eat from the table but quite another to expect a dog to set a table.

Correct, dogs is a perfect reverse analogy for gods. Dogs will start eating all the food as soon as you share the table, keep them on the floor.

Ah, but pagan gods could swarm up on a mono-god. It's that old question about a horse-sized duck vs duck-sized horses.
I am afraid your trying for a stale mate but this will not work. Uh....horsey sized duck takes castle thingy. Checkmate again!

And, of course, feed them what used to be on the table. It's their due, after all.
