Cholesterol

Does anyone know of diet or herbal ways to lower cholesterol. Any opinions on drugs like Lipitor. I think these drugs are more dangerous than the cholesterol.

Oats are really good if you have problems with cholesterol. I know several people who have lowered their cholesterol by eating oats daily...oat muffins, oatmeal, other cereals made from oats. Even oatmeal cookies if you want a snack food.

I'm really skeptical of herbal medicines. They aren't screened by the FDA...who knows what those things will do to you (if anything).

Stay away from saturated fats, which are found in products derived from animals, such as meat and dairy. Stick to the un-saturated fats like plant oils (olive, canola, etc.) Most fish are also very low in colesterol, and high in plant oils.
