Christains; What do you think about Spiritualism?

Dealing with any spirit other than the Holy Spirit is strictly forbidden under a Christian ethic (unless you're doing an exorcism, in which case your relation to the other spirit is less than cooperative).

Spirit

St. Paul 1 Corinthians 2: 6-14 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

There is a spiritualist church in my town it is over 100 years old and still has a small congregation. They would suppose they were Christian. Though no other church accepts that.

Some churches use spirit and soul interchangeably.

What is a 'spiritualist church' then? I have seen some in passing but it never occured to me that they might talk to dead people. I thought it refered to the holy spirit.

Most were formed in Victorian times when there was a great interest and belief in spiritualism. Conan Doyle was one of the more famous members.

in the Chrstian faith, there is really no need to commune with or desire contact with any Spirit but the Almighty, the Creator.

He gives us everything we need, and are. as followers of Jesus, we're taught to honor, seek, and pray to God alone. He made us, knows us, and loves us, and all things are under Him, including all beings, seen and unseen.

so spiritism is something a Christian would reject. there's no need to seek after spirits when we have a relationshp with the Almighty God, and when we know Him personally in and through His Son.

Exodus 20 3-5 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. thou shalt not bow down thyself to them nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.
