Yeah...I understand what is basically in Wikipedia; however, there's so many differences I was just curious as to your definition of yourself in belief. But...it doesn't matter in answering your question as to my answer. For me, there wasn't what generally many Christian Ministers deem as "the Call"...I just wanted to help God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit out (the best I could) in following the Commission of Christ when He stated, (Matthew 28:19) "Go and make disciples...". Then as for the ordained part...I am just for legality...although, in my congregations, I do not have to be "officially-ordained" as most of the Christian world understands the ordination process. Now...I have a question...what's so bad about "duke"?

It seems like we are on opposite sides of the coin on a lot of things. The only churches I know of that allow full ministry without a MDiv are the non-denominational and some of the more fundamentalist groups.

I am of the opinion that the minister should be a learned person. My denomination and denominations like it emphasize the need for reason and knowledge to understand Christ and Christianity. The more conservative and fundamentalist churches tend to emphasize "the spirit" and rote memorization of text.

The Duke thing is a college basketball joke. Everybody hates Duke.

Being on opposing sides is nothing new for me...I am of different interpretations with many even those who share a close opinion to my own faith. Heck...even my wife of 38 years does not have the exact beliefs that I have. That's okay...even Christ's Apostles argued with one another. As for the learning, I am a university graduate with a masters'. However, I freely admit...I do not have a "religious" degree. That's okay with me. At least I don't regurgitate a certain school's doctrine back to the congregation. Does that make me unqualified to preach for the Lord? Many believe so....

I agree with you...don't much care for Duke either...go Tarheels!!!

Me too, but I have a Master's in Religion and *soon* a Ph.D. in New Testament. I teach M.Div. students in a seminary -- I should be acceptable to preach in a church. :D
