Christianity and oral sex...

"Men, I am glad to report to you that oral sex is biblical…The wife performing oral sex on the husband is biblical. God’s men said, Amen. Ladies, your husbands appreciate oral sex. They do. So, serve them, love them well. It’s biblical. Right here. We have a verse. ‘The fruit of her husband is sweet to her taste and she delights to be beneath him.’”

-- Mark Driscoll

Biblical reference:

"As an apple tree among the trees of the wood,
so is my beloved among young men.
With great delight I sat in his shadow,
and his fruit was sweet to my taste.
"

-- Songs 2:3

No... just. NO. Inasmuch as I love the Bible, it's twisted to think that a pastor would even promote this. :/

IMO religion needs to stay out if the bedroom for the most part.

That verse can mean anything.

Oh man, Mark Driscoll. Hooray for complementarians. :sarcastic

When I first discovered him, I thought, Omgosh, I can't believe that there are Christians out there who are soaking this up. It just seems that although yes, it could be construed in the Bible that there is some oral sex going on there, it's not an absolute; the verse is vague, and it just seems like another attempt and excuse for men to make their woman 'scripturally' service him.

Am I the only one who finds this somewhat appalling or is it really just me?

It's not just that - it's that every Christian marriage conference I ever attended made a big point in telling women one of their top priorities was "giving" their husband sex. Sometimes agreeing to sex when you're not in the mood is part of relationships, for either party, but the cumulative effect was the feeling that wives aren't allowed to ever say they're not in the mood. It embarrasses me to admit that I was shocked when someone told me I can say no and not feel guilty about it. Sex was my Christian duty! It didn't matter if he sucked at it, if I wanted something specifically, or if I felt angry about being coerced into it by threat of spiritual disobedience. Here's one more guy railing at women from the pulpit about sex. And his reasoning is that wives need to compete with porn. (See Wiki's article about him for his quote on this.)

Who would have thought the porn industry and Christianity aligned on sex? Actually, they also both have a segment which fetishizes female virginity, among other things.

If women aren't interested in sex, something's going on. And I'm not sure if I'm in the minority, but for most of my marriage I wanted sex more often than my husband. There aren't any seminars out there for that.

Maybe I should reconsider Christianity.

What I don't get is how religions like Islam and Christianity can actually blame women on men's sex addictions, porn addictions, and cheating. It's ridiculous. If a man can't control himself, that's his problem, not anyone else's.

Edit: and by the way, Songbird, me and my ex had the same issue. She wanted it more than I did. :p

I'm a staunch believer that if a man leaves his wife for a Tijuana suck artist and a heroin addiction, it's his wife's fault for not giving him both at home.
