Christianity without rituals

I have an extremeist Christian friend, this guy follows the bible to the letter, he says that you don't need to go to church, that churchs shouldn't even be buildings, it just a gathering of people who pray and discuss biblical scripture.
Why is it when you follow the bible to such an extreme, you get such a hollow and boring religion?
Also thought I should make a statement, wondering if what Christians thought of it "if "worshiping the saints" is sinful, then so is using the post office".

I can't imagine Christianity without rituals. I wouldn't even call that Christianity

Ritual is a necessary part of the spiritual process. To say that there is no ritual is to deny the ritual that is being unconsciously practiced.
