Mighty strange, then, how Christians -- not you of course -- keep throwing them at us.
The only OT passages that still count are the ones that contradict evolution and condemn homosexuals. You know, the good passages.

If God commands it, it is not murder
Christians: Kill family who mentions other beliefs to you?
"If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul
entice thee secretly, saying
Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth
Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him
thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death
and afterwards the hand of all the people. And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die
because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God
which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage
Just as I start to once again grow respectful of the Church.
What could possibly motivate you to do this?
"If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth;

Can any Christians help me understand the context of this?
Why do you keep throwing OT verses at us? You know Christians don't follow those rules, because at least some of us believe that Jesus fulfilled the Law. That some of them still quote some of them for their own beliefs isn't right, either.
The only OT passages that still count are the ones that contradict evolution and condemn homosexuals. You know, the good passages.
i think we all know that people can find a way to justify anything if they really want to --don't we?

If God commands it, it is not murder
No, it is an unemotional one. Murder is unlawful killing. If the highest law commands it, it cannot be murder. That is a horrible view on murder.
It is not a question of morality, but of definition. The highest law supercedes all other law, and if the highest law sanctions or commands a death, it is not murder(unlawful killing). Is this the "morality" that the Church teaches? That it is OK to kill others because your imaginary friend said it was OK?
I know that as wellAnd they say atheist are lacking in morals, but at least I know murder is wrong.
I've never said that I believe God will command killing... I believe quite the opposite. In truth, He has already specifically commanded me to abstain from violence.Just as I start to once again grow respectful of the Church. I hear something like "If God commands it, it is not murder" and once again I lose respect for the Church. It makes me think that despite all the good of the Church, we might just be better off without it.

Do you consider the death penalty murder?

I know that as well

I have been reading some sermons of Martin Luther King, Jr.
I agree with you on this.
Which is another reason I think the death penalty is murder.
