Christians: Place of worship; how it should be used

The Church temple should only be used for worship. Not social gatherings, entertainment, or moneymaking activities. Those are OK, but should take place outside of the temple area.
The temple area should be a place of reverence for the Lord, and worship of our Father.
Don't you think it cheapens our love for the Lord to do otherwise? He has given us a great blessing through sacrifice, the Holy Lamb of the Most High God. He deserves better.

The Church isn't some building, it is all of Jesus' followers throughout time. A Church building is used for fellowship- and that would include social gatherings. I agree with the moneymaking thing, unless it is to help the poor and needy.
Since we, as Christians, are the Church; we should behave accordingly. Follow Jesus commands, etc.
Welcome to the RF. :)

First of all, I'm not aware of Christianity having temples, since a temple is the place to make blood sacrifice. (the Mormons view that differently, of course). Second, are you referring to the sanctuary of the church, or to the whole physical plant? In terms of the sanctuary, I agree. In terms of the second: Is not education, fellowship, outreach, etc. part of our worship?

*** Note to the OP ***

The rules for the Same Faith Debates forum state that in the thread title, you need to specify which faith the debate is directed toward. This is so that members know whether the debate is or isn't for them.

Could you please specify what the intended faith group is for this debate (Christians? A specific denomination? All theists?) so that a staff member can add it to the thread title?

Thanks,
