Yes they should. Women should be allowed to do what men do. No matter what it is. I'm sorry but the Bible is very sexist when it comes to that.

Let your women keep silent in the churches: For it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also says the law. And if they will learn anything, let them ask their husband at home: For it is a shame for a woman to speak in the church."

Obedient, really, come on now. That is not how society works these days.

Is your view on this solely because of what is stated in the Bible, or do you have another reason for your views.

As much as I hope the bible is the inspired word of God there are things in it that urk me. Women being silent in church and under the headship of the husband are some of them. This came about when Eve talked Adam into sinning. If the 'new world' ever arrives this should be thrown out.

Following bible principles was not meant to be easy. I guess things like this are sort of a test. Having said that, I remember being in a relationship when I was around 17 with an older guy that was very protective. He handled the money, had the last word, I never even got to see a bill. You know I missed it when we split. As crazy as what it sounds it was great not having to worry about everything. I got pretty much everything I asked for. He even took a second job so we could live well. I have spoken to Muslim women whom western women nearly always feel sorry for. However, she is so happy and thinks we westerners are crazy to want to work and be all independent. Of course having a great man for a husband has asssited in the culture working for her. A tyrant for a hubby would no doubt be a different story.

Jesus' death released us from the law. The Jews no longer had to make sacrifice nor keep the Sabbath. I wonder if this 'womens silence in church' was nailed to the cross with the rest of the law.

Those awful women at it again. How dare they think themselves as elevated as men.

Women should have known by now that they are to be unseen and unheard.

My grandmother went through the same issue. She preached at her RLDS church.

Whenever I went with her and it was her turn to come up and speak, we'd get people from other churches or new people that would leave momentarily before she was done. Many of them very explicit even in front of me about their belief that women should not preach.
