Christians: You focus a lot on Yahweh and Jesus, what about the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is part of the trinity too!

And for my second question: What would be different if God the father sent himself down to the Earth instead of Jesus?

We could not face Him. To look upon the face of God would destroy us for sin can not dwell with God. Jesus gave us a relationship that allowed for understanding. And the Spirit is a key part of my faith. I often speak of conviction by the Spirit and demonstrating the fruits of the Spirit.

I can't help thinking of that little Irish boy in that movie who was so hungry he prayed for food in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Toast.

Atanyrate... ever heard of the Seven Spirits of the Lord?

I looked and looked in the bible to try and figure out what they were and came to Isaiah chapter 11 and figured it was a prophecy about Jesus

Isaiah 11 (New International Version, ©2010)

1 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse;
from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.
2 The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him—
the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of might,
the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the LORD—
3 and he will delight in the fear of the LORD.
He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes,
or decide by what he hears with his ears;
4 but with righteousness he will judge the needy,
with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth

So what if we talked about the Septinity? I don't know much but I do know that most of the elongated conversations I've had about the Trinity in this life time have started, gotten and ended no where at all.

But as for the Holy Spirit I think one obvious focus is overlooked... Jesus said something very specific about what the Holy Spirit will do...

John 14 (New International Version, ©2010)
25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

In my view...

Jesus spoke the words of our Father in Heaven directly and the Holy Spirit will remind us what Jesus said... so that we will know what to say and how to say it. This will be so that the poor in spirit and those persecuted for righteousness will be blessed not only with the Kingdom of Heaven but by those of us who dare to seek the Kingdom of Heaven. To me it's a matter of which is more important... understanding the exact nature of my Father in Heaven or understanding how my Father wants me to be. They may go hand in hand but I think that understanding how I should behave and think and speak will in the end result in both.

+1. The third person is what makes it a trinity.

In addition to what astarath said about not being able to face Him (without dying,) the Lord's prayer would be different (as the father would not be in Heaven,) lots of the things Jesus (or God the Father if He was on earth) said would have been different, prophecies would not have been fulfilled and a lot of types would be messed up. God gets unhappy when types are messed up. Look at what happened when Moses struck the rock instead of speaking to it.

not all christians view the spirit as a person. The fact is that the far majority of NT scriptures present the holy spirit as an 'it'

'It' is not a person, it is not part of a trinity, it is not seen standing beside God and Jesus in heaven and it is not said to have a throne in heaven with God and Christ

The Trinity is a Thorny issue with many Christians.
As Christians their emphasis is to do with Christ....
Jesus is seen as the Son of God, and in some way lesser than God.
The Holy spirit is seen as God's messenger, comforter, guide and blessing, and bringer of faith.
few see the Holy spirit as a person.

The Holy Spirit is very much the "Active" element in the world today.
