My family doesn't do presents at Christmas. We don't partake in the holiday really except to visit my parents as they want to have the whole family meal thing for the holiday. Within my own home though, we do have a present giving holiday but we decided that instead of doing it at Yule or Christmas, we do the whole shebang at Ostara/Spring Equinox. We decorate with pretty Spring colors and eggs and bunnies and streamers and the wrapping paper is all pastels and such. We do our big family gift-giving holiday then.
I'm not shopping too, but not out of some principle. I just don't have any money to buy gifts this year. Which is a shame, because I actually like to give others gifts.
I hate having to go shopping for even the basic of needs the closer to Christmas it gets. Insanity. And you will NOT ever catch me going to a store on "Black Friday". Nope, not gonna happen. People are straight up crazy.
Which raises the question....how soon should I get out my Festivus pole? Usually, I wait til after Turkey Day, but I don't know what others do.I thought you were gonna say "Festivus."
I just shop online. The sales counteract the shipping charges.I'm joining the JWs just to avoid the mall. Who's with me?
