Give me a break! And nary a mention of the poor victim of the rape.

Amazing. Boo hoo, the poor rapists have to go to jail for rape, and now other people are allowed to know they are rapists FOREVER. What an awful humanitarian tragedy, jailing criminals for their crimes.

That was an incredible clip.

I think they got off easy. I would have taken them out back and introduced their anuses to a red hot steel bar.

What? Me worry?
Definitely a tragedy all around, but hopefully other teens will take a lesson away from this.

I don't know the details of this case.

Was this statutory rape (all be it consensual)?
Or was it forced rape.?

They would be treated very differently here, as statutory rape between teenagers of a similar age are rarely if ever prosecuted.

Those that force rape, of what ever age, would get far longer than a year.

I think it is unjust for the sex offender tag to be life long.

"A 16-year-old girl who prosecutors say was raped by two high school football stars here last August after a night of drinking took the witness stand on Saturday and told a judge that she had no memory of a six-hour period during which each of the teenagers is said to have assaulted her."

What do you suggest, that the court expunge the record?

My God, what a disturbing story.

Somehow I doubt he was actually sorry he did it, he is probably just sorry he got caught and has to face reality. It's good news the judge didn't let the cry baby off the hook.

Reading the article it seems to me there was enough for a reasonable doubt that they raped her.

I know that doesn't matter for most Americans nowadays, but I think it applies here.

No kidding. If he feels remorse and regret for anything, it's that he lost his football star status. I did some reading of texts one of the rapists exchanged with the victim, and that was by far his primary concern from the beginning. "You're not going to the police, are you? Let's work something else out. There are bigger things at stake here... they might kick me off the football team!" etc. He pretended to be friendly to the victim for weeks after assaulting her for the sole purpose of influencing her not to press charges and ruin his football career. He absolutely knew they were guilty of a felony. He texted "you're a felon" to his rapist buddy, during the sexual assault. They tried to entice people to pee on her and posted pictures of semen on her naked, unconscious body on the internet.

These guys behaved like monsters and they needed to face serious consequences for their actions.

The tragic thing is that if they had not been so incredibly stupid to photograph and videotape the entire incident, then brag about it on the internet, then text endlessly about their fear of getting caught and prosecuted for their felony, the sexual assault would likely have had no consequences whatsoever.

That is absolutely ridiculous.

How so? From the article all parties were intoxicated and the girl didn't remember a lot of it.

That to me signifies a reasonable doubt that she was raped.

Unless you believe the fact that she was drunk and naked means that the boys around her must have raped her (and I hope I don't need to point out the flaws in that logic).

What sickens me is the people who defended and supported the rapists while they criticized and even threatened the victim...all because the accused were good at chasing balls around on their kiddy podunk sports team.

Or, and you probably won't believe it is possible, they are not basing their opinion on only the one article linked in the OP....

Naw, that can not possibly be it...
