Don't you mean forced to share stuff? I suppose you could call that a learning process, but......because we should learn to share stuff
Well, if you are too mean to share with the other children, then yes, that might be an appropriate way to instill a more mature sense of community spirit in a child who stamps their foot and refuses to be nice...Don't you mean forced to share stuff? It does result in some great comedy though....Its never right.
Communism must be the worst kind of government ever! It says, work hard we need your money. lazy people love it, they can live off everyone else's labors. It says we are equal even though we aren't. It says entrepreneurs harm society and should be eliminated. It says all the tall heads should be shopped off, ha. ha. It says all those with big houses should let the poor live in spare bedrooms. It says capitalists should serve life person terms for making a lot of money. It says free speech should be eliminated because it might upset government officials. It says smart people should take dump pills to eliminate put downs from dump people. It says awards for successful outcomes should be eliminated, it may cause others to have low self esteem. It says sporting events should be carefully monitored for fear of offended bad athletes. It says old people should take suicide pills to eliminate social and medical costs for younger people.Don't you mean forced to share stuff? I suppose you could call that a learning process, but...
I see this thread has taken the usual intellectual upturn...thank Fox for education!
I think the main point, @Laika is that Communism has been a spectacular failure everywhere it has been tried. It is because it has repeatedly been such a colossal failure that is likely why people are somewhat skeptical about hearing what a great idea it all is. It's not. It's a terrible idea. Perhaps rather than sit in the coffin of Communist understanding you might spread your wings and come up with something that is workable and is actually good for people. Here's hoping! Its sad really that even for its (major) failings people can't seem to understand how communism represents the imagination, creativity and ambition of wanting to better the world. The monotony of "it failed" is very depressing because it means we have so shut down and closed debate that we can't dream of new horizons of human experience.
This is true if you only count the last 100 years of human existence and the places where communism tried - and, yes, failed - to supplant capitalism as the dominant sociopolitical system. If you count the first 190,000 of our species 200,000 year existence, you'll find that we had a non-capitalist, more egalitarian system that still sustains indigenous hunter-gatherer and agrarian societies to this day in some isolated parts of the world. And before you start Fox-educatedly blabbing about 'communists' recommending a return to primitive life-styles, that is not what I am saying. What I am saying is that communism has been the norm for most of the human species' existence. Capitalism is the new kid on the block. Precocious immaturity sometimes overrides tried and tested wisdom in the popularity stakes (as anyone who has had teenage kids well knows), but there is no denying our past and we are what we are - first and foremost - social animals. By hook or by crook, (our inherited) nature will shepherd us back into its fold sooner or later - or eliminate us from the pasture altogether. Here's hoping.Communism has been a spectacular failure everywhere it has been tried.
So atrocities don't happen in capitalist societies? Nobody here is defending state-sponsored violence or intolerance of dissent. That's not communism just because it happens in a communist country any more than warfare is capitalism because a capitalist country goes to war. I acknowledge your pain, but in the context of this discussion, its an argument from emotion. How can you tell a communist from a non-communist?
From the whips on their back. Is this a cruel offensive joke? No its not. It's real to me. Tell that to my father.
All this theory doesn't compare to the actual reality of communism. If people want to suggest something better than capitalism, I can entertain that. But let me tell you without a doubt in mind, that its not communism.
