Confused about Messiah

Messiah means "The Anointed (One)".

To anoint is to pour or smear with perfumed oil, milk, water, melted butter or other substances.

I am really confused here, is there anything in the Old Testements saying that anyone should be Anointed with some sore of Perfumed Liquid.

Is Anointing and baptizm the same thing.

Why does jesus have to be anointed to be the son of god.

Is Anointing a Pagan adaptation,

Waiting for the Messiah, isnt that like saying we are wating for a man, covered in perfumed liquid.

The next messiah, Next person with perfumed Liquid.

If i put some Perfume on does that mean i am anointed thus son of god.

Jesus was anointed with oil and perfume, you remember, maybe even more than once. ;) It was over His head and on His feet and tears, too.

Physical anointing is a matter of pouring oil or water or perfume with something. In the OT and the NT anointing was used to denote the setting apart of some person or object for special use. Thus "God's Anointed" means "one who is set apart for God's use", usually with a particular purpose in mind.

Another thing that dont make sense, ANTI-CHRIST...

Christ=Anointed

so an ANTI-CHRIST would be the opposite of Anointing.

So the Anti-christ will be a UNperfumed oily Person, but i have no perfume on that makes me the Anti-christ

Anti-Messiah ????

it still makes no sense

"Messiah" means "anointed one." If one is "anointed" it means they've been set apart by God for some specific task. If someone is anti-Messiah, it means they oppose the one whom God has appointed for some specific task. In the context we're discussing, "Messiah" means something like "savior". So if someone is anti-messiah, it means they oppose the savior.

There's only a problem if you insist on interpreting such words as "anoint" in a woodenly literal way.
