Congresswoman Tlaib incoherent on BDS defense

Congresswoman Tlaib, a supporter of the anti-Israel BDS movement, was recently denied entry to visit Israel.

In the interview below, Tlaib starts off by saying that BDS is fighting Israeli racism. From there, her answers become wildly incoherent.

Two points:

1 - To exclude religious tensions from the discussion is wildly disingenuous.
2 - For the congresswoman to be so ill-prepared to discuss this current initiative - of her own making - is shocking.

BDS is not racist, The Israel governments policy towards the Palestinians is racist.

BDS hurts the Palestinians.. They can't sell or export their products without going thru an Israeli.. Same thing with the Druze apples in the Golan.

J Street organizes and mobilizes pro-Israel, pro-peace Americans who want Israel to be secure, democratic and the national home of the Jewish people. Working in American politics and the Jewish community, we advocate policies that advance shared US and Israeli interests as well as Jewish and democratic values, leading to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

I know we'll disagree, but just to get the point out there, Palestinians declared war on Israel 30 years ago and that declaration still stands. Further, for you to ignore the obvious religious tensions in this situation seems disingenuous.

Not shocking, to be expected. She is a Jew hating parrot. No doubt from early childhood she was steeped in the concept that Jews and Israel are the most evil entities on earth.

She simply repeats what she has been taught, culturally and by her religion.

Nuanced and well prepared arguments are not her forte, she parrots the argument, then tries to hide her hatred. She cannot do it, she wraps herself into knots.

She makes herself look like what she is, a hate filled bozo.

She doesn't know that BDS hurts the Palestinians.. They are not allowed to export anything unless they go thru a Jewish middleman.. so EVERYTHING is made in Israel. Same for the Druze in the Golan. They aren't allowed to sell or export their apples.

As opposed to what?
I grew up with a narrative about Israel. It was very much like the one about the 19th century American West. Doughty pioneers, fleeing the evils of European oppression. Carving a homeland in the howling wilderness. Beset by trials from the land, and also those darned savages. Savages that would rather kill and die than get civilized like decent folk. But they were righteous and God gave them Victory!

I was well into adulthood before I started realizing how much of this was utter crap, both in the US and Israel.

Yes, it's a heroic narrative and it's crap just like the exodus.

Your point being what ? Did your realization make a Jew hater out of you ? Are you afflicted with self loathing because you are an American ?

Nope.
I did, however, learn to distinguish between Jews and Zionists. I also came to realize that the majority of Zionists aren't Jewish. They're Christian. There's more Zionists in Texas than Israel.
Are you afflicted with self loathing because you are an American ?
Nope.
But I did start developing a more clear understanding of my country. For better and for worse.

So being a Palestinian hater is somehow superior?

The Palestinian approach to life seems to be awash in self harm because of their hatred.

During the Clinton presidency, a three person (and staff) negotiation took place, very intense, all day, every day, for a week.

The Three were Clinton, Arafat, and the then prime minister of Israel ( I have forgotten his name).

Israel made massive concessions to create a Palestinian state, including half of Jerusalem for the Palestinian capital. The Palestinians got virtually everything they demanded.

Finally, because of his hate, and the pipe dream of displacing Israel from all the land, he refused to sign on the dotted line. It seems unlikely that Israel will ever go that way again.

They seem to think that the more they hurt themselves, it is damaging to Israel.

They live in camps and scheme. Meanwhile they cannot live normal lives, generation after generation.

They are the disposable soldiers the terrorism movements use.

By Zionist do you mean those who support maintaining a Jewish state ?

I guess I am one too.

The original Zionists were mostly secular Jews.

Take the negative side of American history, and there is quite a bit, then compare it to the positive side, and the positive FAR outweighs the negative.

Your posted hatred of the Palestinians knows no bounds.
Really ? how do you draw that conclusion ?

Typical progressive response, disagree with me and you must be a hater. Pure pap.

I don hate the Palestinians, the real haters, I fell very sorry for them in that they choose not to be pragmatic, and improve their own lot.

They are paying a horrible price for denying that Israel is there and is a legitimate nation.

Does this make me a greater hater ? On a hate scale of one to ten, where does my hate score ?

I am a Conservative, so I de facto hate everything you love right at ten, correct ? LOL !

You guys and your abuse and manipulation of the language, hilarious. I guess it is better than having to listen to your whining.

When the European and Russian Jews went to Palestine they were Bolsheviks and socialists of every stripe and they considered all the Palestinians to include Jewish and Christian Palestinians to be inferior. They fled the progroms and ghettos of Europe and Russia to abuse and mistreat the people of Palestine.. Of course it turned out badly.

How did they mistreat the Palestinians ? I am curious.
