Converting To Buddhism And Want To Use Forums For Discussion

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
My observation is that Buddhists really worship Buddha.

You see, if Buddhists do not worship anything or anyone at all, in particular Buddha their founder, then they are not into any religion.

So, I am asking Buddhists here, whether born Buddhists like say native Buddhists in Thailand, or Westerners previously Christians and now calling themselves Buddhists:

Are you into a religion or not?

For if you are not into a religion, what are you into with calling yourselves Buddhists?
Buddhism barely qualifies as a religion. Maybe it's the robes and formalities ;0)

Anyways as Ripley's say, "believe it or not", the Buddha is not worshiped but rather venerated. If there is worship, you're looking at Hinduism in Drag.

Can you believe me when I tell you I am not into debating with anyone at all.

I just want to learn from everyone who does have some thoughts which I will find to enhance my knowledge of things.

For folks here who say that Buddhism is not any worship and not any religion, so tell me what it is in regard to mankind, per your observations of what Buddhists do.

If you look into an encyclopedia of religions, Buddhism is there as a religion, and Buddhists look up to their founder as to a superior being - because he has arrived at enlightenment, and by following his instructions and examples, others like you perhaps too will reach enlightenment.

I appreciate your curiosity. Well, you're going to get different answers from different Buddhists since Buddhism includes a very wide range of different schools. But the core of the Buddha's teachings (and of all schools of Buddhism) is the practice of awakening to reality by understanding the Four Noble Truths and following the Eightfold Path. In essence, what Buddhists do is take on a practice that helps us cease the causes of our self-created suffering or dissatisfaction in life, leading us to grow in wisdom and compassion.
