Cormac is back!

Cormac is back! He escaped from the pound somehow, and made it all the way back to my house!

I'm even more sure that this is a lesson and/or gift from Cernunnos! I'm sticking to my guns this time. Cormac stays.

He keeps whining... I feel so evil.... :(
At that age they need company and he plainly has adopted you as family.
and he is frightened he will be left on his own again.

Keep returning to him when he is not whining and praise him. but don't go when he whines.
he will soon learn what brings results.

Oh God... Our neighbors across the street claimed the dog was theirs, and they did have some proof. I gave Cormac back to them, but I can't leave him there. They keep the other three dogs they have on seven-eight foot chains. They are never let inside. This is wrong!

:(

I just don't know what I'm supposed to do...

Can someone help me find out what the laws regarding chaining or tethering are in Canada? Perhaps I could get their dogs taken away and shipped to Ottawa.

Please help!

I'm not finding any actual laws in Canada that have restrictions (or bans) on chaining your dog. There appear to be a few petitions going around, but I don't think anything has been made into law yet.
I'll keep looking though:(

I just found out it's illegal to keep dogs on chains in Ontario, but not in Nunavut. It's off to parliament for me.

With that happening, you must be intended to be Cormacs caretaker. With the look in his eyes, it looks as if you are the only person to show him any love.

Do what I'm doing! Most people who chain dogs aren't bad, they're just stupid and don't know what dogs need. So offer to help take care of them. The trick is making it seem that you're doing a favor for them...

"I was trying to get a puppy earlier, but my parents won't let me. And since I know how much work puppies are, along with your other dogs, I was wondering if you'd like any help taking care of your dogs."

As long as you're super-polite, they will probably say yes. People like that usually like having dogs, but not doing anything with dogs.

And if it doesn't work, just do so sneakily :D

I don't know if canada is as animal loving as some Americans (and from some of the stories you told, it makes me think no) but at least in America, there are some legal groups that you can contact to report animal cruelty. If this is an option for you, the people can lose costudy of Cormac, then you can be the adopting person. The fact that Cormac escaped the pound and went to you should be more than enought to show that you treated Cormac very good.

I second Prima's idea. If what they are doing isn't illegal then this would be an excellent way of relieving Cormac's suffering, even if it isn't permanent. Also if you do a good job, when he grows up they might let you have him or something like that?

Good luck Druidus!
