Could God and Jesus really be real?

PastorClark

I'm an agnostic but not so sure now, because while i was taking a shower this morning "May 19 2013". I prayed to God and Jesus if they was real and to show me the way and to give a sign that i will understand.

And so two verses came to me and that was john 6-29 and john 6-26, And i have never read john pass john 1-1, so i would have no knowledge of those two verses. Could this be that God and Jesus is really real? And or could it be coincidence, that my subconscious may had read it before without me noticing it. And just to say it give me goosebumps. But i ask myself out of all the chapters and verses of the new and old testament, it had to be john 6. but why i mean i have the right to know why. Maybe it was the only verse in the bible that matched my prayer.

And about month ago, i think i was called to become a minister. Because i never wanted to be one before but somehow know i do. Would this also be other sign of God telling me to become a minister and get closer to God and Jesus? And also when i went to tell my mother to go and open up her bible to those verses It was already marked. And she said that she also prayed the some thing i did, so its all kinda strange.

I think this is God answering your prayer. You should keep talking to Him, and keep turning to Him for guidance; He will not disappoint you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

My prayers are with you. May He Who wills the salvation of all continue to bless you and bring you closer to Him, that you may do His will and walk in the way of salvation, for He is gracious and He loves mankind, and to Him we give glory, to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy spirit, always, now and ever and forever, amen!

Thank you for your prayers, And yes i also believe this could be from God. But i also would like a more define question. Its just that i don't want to follow something bind without some hard truth behind it, know what i mean?

I trust that the loving God, the Creator of heaven and earth, will faithfully answer you as you seek to know Him. Jesus promised...“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8

Thank you, I just hope that i am not just following false hope, that is what led me away from Christianity in the first place. and i'm not really sure if i should go back to Christianity. Since people say that Christianity is the only way to God and Jesus and which i strongly disagree. I strongly believe that you can worship God and Jesus with or without any religion.

I don't believe religion is the answer or the way to God, but I do believe in going directly to God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I am praying that you will not be led down any false path.

Well, to be "Christian" means to follow Jesus, so if you worship and follow Him, His Father and His Holy Spirit, you are a Christian.

Don't worry about Christianity, the religion. Instead, focus on trying to get into Christianity, the way of life. Take things slowly. We can answer whatever questions you have. But it might also be a good idea to find a good Christian community in your area. Churches aren't just places you wake up early on a Sunday morning for and waste time there that you could have spent sleeping. Churches are places where you come into contact with other Christians, who together make up the body of Christ, where you can find support and guidance--and where you provide the same where able.

I understand the sentiment.

Any thoughts on the calling of becoming a pastor,

let me give you a low down on why i believe that the calling "could" be from God. Okay, so it was a about month ago that the word "minister" pop into my head.

which at the time i never new what the word "minister" even meant. So i looked it up and find out what it was and what it was about. And i said i could be a pastor. But then i looked up the requirements that it needs years of college and schooling. And which i got none of those, but i remember what the bible said about Jesus never did went to school for his Wisdom of Knowledge and i also remember that the only way to become a pastor is from God only.

So any thoughts?

I believe that if God calls you to do something, you will know it beyond a shadow of a doubt. I usually tell the person to keep praying on it, but as you are an agnostic, I don't know how you'd feel about that. Would you like me to keep you in prayer?

I think your experience might be very similar to Paul's; all of a sudden having a real encounter with Christ. Perhaps a less dramatic encounter, but still an encounter nonetheless. :)

Even though Jesus condescended to become man and relearned everything so as to share in our humanity, keep in mind that He is fully and truly God as well--so we shouldn't expect to have His wisdom by nature (if we did, that'd be a real blessing!).

In any case, the Apostles became preachers/ministers after only 3 years of training--but this training consisted of eating, sleeping, traveling and talking with Jesus Himself, in the flesh, face-to-face. If it took them that long to merely begin to understand what Jesus was telling them all that time, then what makes us think that we would be any different?

I don't think that because the word minister popped into your thoughts it necessarily means you should become a minister/pastor, but then again maybe God is leading you in that direction. I would agree with ChristineES and continue to pray for God's guidance. There are many ways to minister to people without years of college and He will show you how He desires to use the unique individual abilities you have to minister to others. More importantly, though, have you placed your faith in Jesus and trusted Him as your Savior? That is the first step toward being able to minister Christ to others. May God bless and lead you.

I know, and i didn't really meant it that way, what i should have said. Is that I have a strong desire to teach whats in the bible, i have a strong desire to be a pastor of a church of my own, or minister of someone else's church. But i prefer to have my own church "Non-denominational". And i just have a strong desire to teach in general. and despite having no school or GED diploma "i got kick out of school because of my OCD, ADD anxiety, Aspergers and depression". Yeah. i know its crazy, and whose know maybe this isn't from God but my from disorders. And we all know it could be very possible. And so i'm here trying to get some advice :D

In my experience (short though it may be) I found myself called to faith from whence I had drifted the farthest from it. Nothing tragic, or life altering happened, I just suddenly felt compelled to go to church. I myself have many issues and disagreements with traditional Christian Dogma, but my own beliefs (which are out there) have strengthened my spiritual fervor. At one point I was practically a Deist. Though I do not believe all the Bible is literal, I feel the presence of God, the Spirit, whatever, in me in all I do now. I also felt compelled to teach, and now regularly talk to my friends (both Christian and non-christian) about faith, and occasionally teach Bible Study lessons. It has been a change which has strengthened myself, and I have become a better person in many respects. In this I know that the Lord, worked through, and for me, to change me into a whole different person. So yes, I believe that this was a sign for you; and that if you answer the call, you may go down a path which you never dreamed of, but wouldn't trade for the world.

They could be real. (this is coming from a open-minded agnostic).

because of my experience i had and the experiences i keep having every time i pray. I believe God is real because, When i prayed last night i got a warmth feeling in my heart. the strongest feeling i felt was when i ask God if i should become a pastor. Not sure if this meant yes or something else, or maybe it didn't meant anything at all. who knows :D

But i do know i didn't experience this before.
