Counting the Days 'til Nov. 5th

I will be so very glad when Nov. 5th has come and gone. "Today" I don't care who wins, I just want it over!

This afternoon I rode to town with my friend and neighbor. She has a huge Trump sticker in red that covers her whole back glass, a 4'x4' 2-sided campaign sign in her front yard, a Trump flag flying under the American flag on her full size, front yard flag pole, AND she's a county campaign captain for the GOP, only working for the presidential ticket. We normally stay clear of political talk and it has worked well.

However, today she was psyched, having convinced an undecided to go Trump, and started on a roll. These are the points that had made me near to hyperventilating.

● Venezuela dumped an entire death row prison of all its inmates on the US, 30,000, and Biden/Harris accepted them because it was an agreement Obama made.

● The Democrats have set two plans that need to be read as they are scary as he<<. One is Project 2030 and the worst is Project 2033 which will have us living in a "Smart World."

● Harris is not black. She has no African-American heritage at all, but she says she's a black woman when she's speaking to a black audience, just like when she's speaking in TN she says she's a Southern woman. I said her father is clearly black and a Jamaican. She said, but not African-American. Just like that Obama #@%$ isn't African-American either, but they let that slide.

● AND - are you ready for this one?
The federal government controls both hurricane Helene and Milton to wipe out large numbers of Republican voters, or at least take their attention away from the election.

● Then there was the whole deal about FEMA not doing their job. Some company sent 140 chainsaws to Appalachia (specifics not mentioned) and FEMA took them instead of letting the people have them. (I got no where trying to talk safety and priorities.)

● Then there was something about a man living on a sailboat of the east coast, and I couldn't control myself and dropped my head in my hands. She stopped mid-sentence so I have no idea what the conspiracy around him is about, but apparently it's all over tictok and facebook.

Anyone else hearing this stuff from people in your lives that you care about? How do you keep from going just as batty by association?

The only people I encounter that are that malignant are on the forum, and they appear to be a significant minority.

In my opinion, not as bad but damn close is ...

I'm sorry @Spice but you need to tell your friend to start a YouTube channel.

I'm running out of reruns of Pee-wee's Playhouse. :D

It was just during the time I was listening to all this. There for a few minutes I was thinking maybe we should hit the skids with a real coup and Greatest Depression. Military rule, loss of freedoms, etc.

But I got my head together and ended the conversation reminiscing about the great beef boycott when hamburger hit 69 cents a pound and carried through to how grateful I am everyday for the simple, comfortable life I have even if it doesn't compare with so many who trave the world in retirement.

I've looked for the two projects:
Project 2030 is an agenda signed by the UN in 2015 as a global effort to:
End poverty and hunger
Ensure human rights for all
Achieve gender equality
Protect the planet and its natural resources
Improve health and education
Reduce inequality
Spur economic growth
Tackle climate change

For Project 2033, I found 2 completly different programs working under the title. A cyber currency membership something or other, and a Christian collaboration for these collective causes:
Water
Nutrition
Sanctity of Life
Poverty
Child Welfare
Families
Human Trafficking
Refugees
Healthcare
Biblical Literacy
Education
Prisoner/Legal Aid

I'm ready when asked if I looked into them as she strongly suggested I should.

As an aside, I'm glad I'm not the only one in here who has crazy Maga friends.

(note to any onlookers: I'm not saying all Magas are crazy (because that would be against the rules), just saying that the friends that I have who happen to be Magas also happen to be crazy)

I have absolutely no problem with people of the Republican Party. I don't even have a problem with Trump supporters who truly believe his wacko-ness is his entertaining personia. But that's NOT the case this time. This is not a repeat of 2016. He has really pushed the limits and still being excused with passionate belief.

The media is not helping with headlines like this. I don't have a membership so I have no idea what's in this article. How many will read the headline and "believe"?

I've met many Christians who detest Trump and claims like this. The Bible itself warns against these kinds of "false messiahs". Not to mention, selling a signed Bible for $1,000 got many Christians to see Trump for who he is.

This is one of those times where I'm glad I'm a theist, because here we are: the most powerful country in the world, at the apex of human civilization, the self-proclaimed moral, technological, and economic compass for the rest of the world, and out of 333 million people we can't find a single one that anybody really has any real confidence in it to run the show.

We're on the brink of ecological disaster, nuclear war, societal meltdown, and global economic collapse and not only aren't we even close to finding any answers, almost nobody seems interested in asking the questions.

Everybody's too fixated on what's wrong with everybody else.

So like I say it's times like this I'm glad I'm a theist because, let's face it: the clowns are running the circus, we're the clowns, and if there isn't some sort of omni-balevolent ringmaster running the show behind the scenes, I don't see what's going to keep the Big top from coming down on our heads.

No, I don't know anyone like that. Almost all the people I know irl are Trump/conservative hating Democrats and I keep my political views to myself for the most part. For example, I don't talk about politics on my Facebook, because that's where I'm linked with those aforementioned people and I just don't want to hear it. So it goes both ways, you know. I can't wait for the stupid election to be over, either.

I feel you. My agnostic side is also somewhat banking on "eh, if it gets worse, humans will figure it out". I'd also like to believe that humans are smart enough to not play with nuclear warfare like toys.
