What is your country's equivalent of 'country music'? If you go to the 'heartland', what would you hear on the local radio station?
I have two examples from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The first is by Amra Halebic, who is from the village of Pocitelj (featured in the beginning of this video clip):
Amra Halebic - Kad procvatu behari (Allah! Allah! Thank you, Allah!)
Amra represents the Sevdah (Passion) music of Bosnia, which is like our country music.
I also have as an example Grupa IF, a girl-band from a village near Travnik. They sing pop music, but its a 'hick' style of pop music instantly recognizable to most urban Bosnians.
Grupa If - Titanik
For Bosnians looking at these clips, it's no trouble to tell Amra is from Herzegovina (sullen, serious) and Grupa IF is from Bosnia (care-free, naive). They're practically walking stereotypes.
