Some info about testing....
Additional COVID-19 Questions – Penn Medicine
Excerpted....
Since COVID-19 tests are new, knowing the accuracy is challenging. The accuracy and predictive values of SARS-CoV-2 testing have not been evaluated, and the accuracy of testing depends on which test is used, the type of specimen tested, how it was collected and the duration of illness.

No medical test is 100% accurate for many reasons, including error and timing of the test. Because it is possible to get a negative result even when you have coronavirus, it is important to be careful even when you receive a negative result. Some doctors recommend quarantining yourself until symptom-free for at least 72 hours.

Elon Musk: I Got A COVID Test Four Times In One Day. ‘Two Came Back Negative, Two Came Back Positive.’

same test, same machine and same nurse.

So which one is correct? 50/50 chance either could be right or wrong? Are numbers skewed?

Are you afraid you are going to die or kill someone?

I am a big Elon fan, but he has twitted some nutty stuff. Previous posters have done a good job of sharing some theories, but I would be careful listening to Musky. This is not to say that this didn't happen or that he is being dishonest, but I have been taking him with a grain of salt recently. Unless it has to do with rockets or cars. :D

I'm alert, not afraid. I'd rather not get, or transmit, a disease that has killed over 200,000 Americans this year and hospitalized many others.

Wear a mask, social distance, and wash your hands!

Not all tests are equally accurate, plus all of them do have a margin of error.

Are you afraid you are going to die or kill someone?
"Afraid" is too strong a word in my case, but I am very concerned especially for my wife who has serious health concerns as it is.

In regards to myself, I know I'm on borrowed time being 75 years young, and I was so sickly* as a kid I never though I would ever see even being 30, and I almost died then because of a severe allergic reaction that then got infected. Only shots of cortisone and antibiotics saved me.

*very anemic, five broken collarbones, one broken leg, one broken tailbone, dislocated elbow that never healed right, nasty allergies, caught the flu pretty much every year, ... But since I had everything but the medical-kitchen sink when younger, I'm healthy as a lame horse now (knee operation).

Which makes one wonder how many others are listed as positive on the total. Or even if it was taken off the list when they found out it was negative later.
Or the reverse of negative to positive.

There are two measures of accuracy sensitivity and specificity. They're designed to measure both false positives and false negatives. And they're ranked on the amount of the virus needed to generate a positive result. Someone with only a slight infection might test negative even though the person was in fact infected.

A lot of research goes into determining this. For example: Considerations for diagnostic COVID-19 tests | Nature Reviews Microbiology is one study of one kind of test but done with sample from different parts of the body.

For example, the rate of rtPCR detection of SARS-CoV-2 in patients with COVID-19 is as high as 93% in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, but is 72% in sputum and 63% in nasopharyngeal swabs, while it is only 32% in pharyngeal swabs and 29% in stool64
...
It has to be emphasized that even ‘poor but cheap’ tests may be of diagnostic significance if the shortcomings of the tests are well considered66.

WOW, Metis. Thank you for sharing. indeed you have every right to be concerned. You have me beat with only a broken ankle listed on my account. A baseball weekend warrior injury due to thoughts of grandeur than never materialized. :)

But I did mean "afraid". Wisdom, because of concerns, is always important.

Yes, I am, as my wife is currently in the ICU with this disease struggling for every ****ing breath she takes, a **** hairs length away from needing a ventilator, so yes, I am worried this disease will kill someone I know. How about you get off your high horse and stop spreading BS. Everyone knows the rapid antigen tests aren't 100% accurate.

Would be happy to lift her up in prayer. We believe in prayer and have seen Him work in ICU Covid cases.

Prayer coming for your wife now... and forgive me if I came across uncaring because I do care.

You're apology is not accepted, and your prayers aren't wanted either. If you actually cared you'd stop posting BS about Covid, trying to minimize it's perceived impacts. You don't actually care until it is someone you know, typical self-centered American Judeo-Christian attitude.

In that case, that is between you and your God. But the prayer has already been done.

People have to wait hours in line to get a test but this sack of **** is getting multiple tests in one day. **** you, Elon. The same goes for the overpaid ball chasers that our fellow hooting chimps love to stare at, that have easier access than the rest of us.
