Creating Change

The Hammer

As an outsider looking in; as an insider looking around; or some liminal space in between:

What is the best approach for seeing, addressing, and implementing positive changes in a group, culture or society?

I feel that the best way to drive change is from the outside, by pulling attention from the group consciousness and direct them towards your Way.

I guess that really depends on what change it is, and what group we're speaking of.

Some groups are open and accepting. Others are loud and aggressive. How you'd implement change in both of these would vary greatly.

Is it a big change? You might have to work with individuals first. A small, common sense change? Better out in the open.

And sometimes its worth identifying if the group needs to change, if the person wanting change needs to change, or whether things are actually fine as they are.

When in doubt, though, I like Gandhi's "Be the change you want to see in the world."
