If I remember correctly, the US, had begun to build some sort of relationship towards normalizing relations.
Until Trump and Republicans killed it.

June 20 (Reuters) - China and Cuba are negotiating to establish a new joint military training facility on the island, sparking alarm in the U.S. that it could lead to the stationing of Chinese troops and other security operations just 100 miles off Florida's coast, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday citing current and former U.S officials.

What floors me is that even though we import a wide variety of different products from China, it's still illegal to buy Cuban cigars in the U.S.

So what? A sovereign nation makes a deal with another sovereign nation.

The U.S. has "spying facilities" all over the world. So does Russia, so does China, so does Germany, so does the U.K, and I don't know how many other nations. Any yes, these "spying facilities" are extremely close to other nations.

Nothing new, nothing to get upset about it. And even I don't think it is the fault of Trump or the Republicans.

Easy....
If China can claim the S China Sea as its own,
then it should allow us to claim the Caribbean
& its occupants as ours.
We should also claim all of the Pacific between
USA, Alaska, & Hawaii.

Exactly. The US and its allies defended Ukraine's right to join or ally with NATO as a sovereign nation, and rightfully so—despite Russia's objections. To turn around and criticize Cuba for this is nothing short of astounding arrogance and inconsistency.

Cuba has the right to host Chinese troops and bases to its heart's content. The US doesn't get to dictate what another sovereign nation does within its own borders.

Your comparison suffers from 1 big disparity.
Russia invaded Ukraine, killing many, & destroying much of the country.
USA is only criticizing China & Cuba.
Still hypocrisy....but nothing to get the vapors over.
Now if Biden invades Cuba, I'll be triggered.

That's not the point. If the initial move towards improving relationships had gone forward China would have nothing to offer Cuba.

History indicates that the US shouldn't be trusted not to invade either, and Cuba knows this quite well. The Bay of Pigs comes to mind.

Cuba has been sanctioned and demonized by the US for decades. Not sure why it would be surprising or blameworthy for them to look for another globally powerful ally.

Yeah, but this is nothing new in terms of US foreign policy. It has antagonized Iran, Venezuela, and Cuba, among others. When a country unnecessarily makes its own enemies while refusing any attempt at normalization of relations, it should come as no surprise when its enemies align themselves with a geopolitical rival of the US.

The possibility of US invasion is far
far less terrible than actual invasion.

I'm not claiming surprise or blame
BTW, I favor normalizing relations
with Cuba.

China and USA are both far too large. Cuba can turn on a dime. It can change relations quickly. 10 Cuban years is like 50 USA years.
