Just wondering why the black student is wearing clothing that is not attributed to attire worn in Africa?
In addition does she not know that "dreadlocks" is not unique to Africa, as a matter of fact it is speculated that it came from Egypt or India.

Oh, by the way how about all of you wearing cowboy hats or boots that do not work as ranch hands knock it off. I can think of thousand of items that would fall in the "Cultural Appropriation" realm.

To tell you the truth I'm getting sick and tired of all of this type crap.

I know a lot of people who vote Democrat and care about the rights of minorities. I can't think of anyone who would concern themselves with how people wear their hair. Certainly no one would condone physical assault. Is this a common thing nowadays or is this more of an isolated incident? I thought the reason it's been in the news is because it's such a bizarre, uncommon incident and a rare example of political correctness gone extreme, but I could be out of touch.

I think there are valid cases where people go a bit far...this isn't one though. The way things are politically at the moment this stuff will probably become more frequent.

I think "cultural appropriation" is a great thing. I leads to greater understanding of others and points us towards a more collective global society. As long as things are not appropriated with intent to mock or belittle their original culture I see it as a compliment. It's showing that you like their customs so much you want to experience them as well. I don't see how, as long as there is no malicious intent, cultural appropriation could possibly be a bad thing.

I am sick of it too. Minority rights (often supported by the left) can be taken to the point of wrapping around and infringing the freedom of others.

Cultural appropriation is a croc of ****.
Cultural appropriation is nothing more than cross cultural exchange. A white person wearing, say a sari, is not insulting to anyone except those too insecure with their heritage in the first place.
Hell whenever a white person attends an Indian celebration it is generally seen as favourable when they dress in Indian attire. In fact it's downright encouraged.
No culture owns a certain hairstyle and to assault someone over it is pathetic and thug like.

Cultural appropriation is an issue, however anyone who thinks their race gets the monopoly on a haircut is stupid, and anyone who lays hands on someone over it should be disciplined.
Can you offer an good example of this so-called "cultural appropriation"?

What someone wears in terms of clothes or hairstyle is not of my concern, so I really don't get hung up on this. However, how someone treats another is of my concern.

I'm lucky that Hawaiian shirts were developed for the tourist trade (non-ethnic white folk).
Sure, they started off with Japanese kimono cloth, but they were intended for us!
Because I be the kind'o laddy who don't be culturally appropriate'n.

Yep, it's stupid. This is America.

Also, Ana Kasparian of TYT said great things regarding this issue.

And don't even get me started on baseball caps (especially ones with that oversize fish hook stuck on the brim).
