What are the best conditions for artists, writers, composers, etc.?
In the present time there are no great artists in Austria. And it is remarkable that we had a real flood of great artists in Austria - but this was after II. World War. The reason was, because people felt so free, after this dictatorship. One group of artists painted in the style of surrealism, but they called themselves "Phantastic Realists". There is no one single greatest place or source for inspiration. Each artist has their own muse. For some it is lush forests, tears of joy, tears of sorrow, a night-time city scape, drugs, anger, pain and suffering, happiness and bliss, war, peace, other artists, the list goes on and on. It's just finding what inspires you and the different ways you can express yourself.
