U.S. Senate approves bill to make daylight saving time permanent

Problem is whiny parents who don't want their children in the dark from what I hear that keeps this obsolete practice alive.

Most Americans don't want the disruption DST causes anymore.

I hope the act makes it permanent.
Don't hold your breath. The EU parliament decided in 2019 that DST should be abandoned in 2021 but the Eurocrats decided they couldn't manage to implement that, so we have DST this year again.

I'm a BIG fan of DST but as I recall 'was it Reagan back in the 80's' who tried it.
Children were being harmed in early morning darkness, but parents at that time, it was not just darkness, but parents work schedules would conflict if school started later.

I like (but is it a practical idea ) what one person suggested to just move the clock 1/2 hour and leave it at that.
Any thoughts about a half hour permanent time change __________

If I remember from past travel that Not all states change the clocks, am I right ?

I'd much prefer my kids be in the dark than deal with the weeks of behavior issues that stem from the time switch...
As I recall when the clock time was Not returned to Standard there was a lot more crime against kids.
Having school start later would have disrupted work for many parents.
I do wonder if a permanent 'half hour' time change could be workable.

All countries in the EU have DST and we change at the same dates (last Sunday in March and October). Countries outside the EU may or may not change.
The states of the United States aren't as united as the countries of the EU are, some have DST, others not.
