Daylight Savings Time

Each year for the past few around this time, I hear rumor that we will no longer be doing the "fall back" time change and remain on daylight savings time indefinitely. Yet in early November, we end up back on standard time, where darkness rolls in just before 5pm.

I prefer it stays light later in the day and even though I'm an early riser, I think it would benefit mental health for those that cope with seasonal depression due to the decrease in daylight hours, a very real condition that I've personally dealt with in the past and that my daughter is challenged with now.

What are your thoughts on the time change?

Does anyone know for certain if it's actually happening again this year or if we're staying on DST?

As I understand it, there is a significant portion of Indiana that doesn't do the change.

Well, I guess that changed 17 years ago.

They recently went full DST. And Kentucky wants to dump it, we've about had it with the damned ordeal. I think Arizona and Hawaii are the only ones left not doing DST.

This is true, Arizona does not observe DST. No need for an extra hour of sunlight in the summer evenings.

Flipping despise it because if they want to get rid of daylight stupid time they should get rid of daylight stupid time, not keep it permanently on. As someone who is well-entrained to natural day-night cycles permanent DST will really eff up my life. No, not joking.

Okay, I do not mind being on DST. But changing the clocks is a pain in the rear, and the cows hate it and are so confused.

I don't care what they do, as long as they stop flipping it....

And stop toying with my emotions by saying they're actually looking at changing the issue...

I want so very little. Can't I have this? :(

Why change milking time just keep it the same for the cows. Say split the difference. It is only humans who can tell clock time. Cows have the real time built in.

When I was a lad we even had double summer time in the UK. But we just kept milking our cows by the sun. The cows made their own way to the parlour if we left the field gates open.

It sucks for we cyclists as we have less evening light for rides. Already our evening training rides end after sundown and we have to use lights. I have noticed the are pushing the time later in the year, and reversing it sooner, so we have around four months of it.

I have heard that the USA will eliminate it in 2024, but nothing certain.

Here in the EU the parliament decided in 2019 that we should get rid of DST in 2022. Didn't happen yet as some eurocrats found it impossible to implement.
We know that is doesn't save energy (to the contrary) and it is bad for human health. We have to get rid of it.
