Believe it or not, I actually use a refurbished ThinkPad T430 and it's the best most reliable little machine I've ever had.

Worst ever was an Acer.

Macbooks are pretty durable. Mine last 8 years, would have kept going too, had I not taken a brick to it.

I've had bad luck with HP too. Bad enough that I wouldn't consider buying another unless it was a ridiculously good deal.

Ever think that maybe, just maybe, you need to stop running WIERDO software.....

Sounds like you have just gained a couple of handy door stops.

I don't use laptops, most unreliable in my opinion. A good quality, custom built tower with plenty of cooling works for me... says the one who's 10 year old quad processor quad core xeon tower recently went up in smoke. (Replaced with a dell optiplex which is quicker )

I've been using the same mini mac for 9 years, now. I hope they keep making them. They're relatively inexpensive, and they work.

I second an older Thinkpad model. A few hundred in CAD dollars and will run for years on.

There a huge following for thinkpads. They are workhorses.

I still have one of these, and it still works:

A15-year-old laptop with absolutely zero issues. Even the battery still works.

My current HP desktop works fine as does several where I volunteer.

Maybe it's you.

Had a user once complain to me that the State bought cheap pieces of junk mice (old mice with the ball in them) for their PCs, because every office she worked in (there had been 4) they stopped working. When I pulled her mouse apart and found it full of eraser shavings and then asked her if she did a lot of erasing on her desk near the mouse, she said yes...I said it is not the mouse...it is you...don't erase near your mouse and it would stop working...I was told I had no idea what I was talking about and was "ordered" by her, to get her a new mouse...because this piece of excrement (but she did not say excrement) was broken. As she was ranting and casting aspersions on the staten and my ancestors...I cleaned the mouse....set it on the desk...moved it around and tested the clicks...looked at her and said "I have no idea what you are talking bout...this mouse works fine" and I walked out of her office

I've had my Samsung Chromebook for about 7 years now, and it's been carefree. [hits self on head-- sawdust falls out]

My HP laptop lasted several years, and still technically does work but the monitor is scrambled. It was OK, with the main problems just being Windows problems that were resolved with a Linux installation.
My Gateway desktop is nearly a decade old, and though the hardware is dated it still runs strong.

Yo logitech trackballs are sick.
Didn't know that the US government had taste.

that was 20 years ago, and it was not a trackball. all we had was what all mice were then....like this
