Dean Phillips to Primary President Biden

I don't know much about him. I've learned a bit here, and have to admit I'm interested.

What do you think? Is he taking a torch that hasn't been passed, splitting the party to a loss in 2024, or is he the future we desperately need? Watch the video at the end of the OP at least, if you will (I'm not great about watching videos so I understand but it's the way to hear him in his own words).

Here's Steve Schmidt:

This is a terrible time for America. Everyone knows this. There is menace in the air.

These poll numbers on political violence are staggering. They are terrifying.

There is a terrible storm gathering. It is coming.

I have made many predictions over the last seven years. Donald Trump credited me with being the very first person on American television to see that he could win, was winning and would win the Republican nomination. Truthfully, when did you first see it?

I also predicted the violence and the mayhem that would result from Donald Trump refusing to concede.

We are in the middle of an ongoing event that has been building and worsening for seven years.

The extremist movement is stronger and more powerful than it was on January 6, 2021. It is richer, better organized and absolutely committed to the project of taking power and destroying American democracy. They have a plan.

They have a leader, and he is going to be the Republican nominee. I wish that were not true. There has been no candidate with real courage who has risen up within the Republican Party to challenge him in the GOP primary. Integrity, character and a fierce commitment to the defense of the US Constitution leads to exile in the MAGA/GOP. The only thing that will defeat this rancid and un-American cause will be a call to better and a summons towards tomorrow. No one measured up in the MAGA party. They have all fallen in line, and they are winning.

If the election was tomorrow the simple truth is this: President Biden would lose. . . .

A few years ago, I founded the Lincoln Project to oppose Donald Trump. It devastated him in the 2020 election. It raised nearly $100 million and accumulated over a billion dollars worth of advertising impact. It deeply destabilized Donald Trump and his team. It kept him off balance, and contributed to President Biden’s win. I will always treasure the phone call that I received from President-Elect Biden after the 2020 election thanking me for the role I played. I deeply admire the man and am appalled at the libels he has endured. I shuttered my consulting firm, left MSNBC, stepped off of corporate boards and did everything I could do to defeat Donald Trump. Should President Biden be the Democratic nominee I will do everything I can to support him against the fascist coalition headed by Trump. It will require all of us because, should they get through the barricades, we will lose the country.

I will be perfectly straight. I am going to help Dean Phillips run for president for two reasons:

  1. He is going to talk about some very important things that have not been talked about in a long time. I hope you will listen. I know Dean Phillips will listen to you.
  2. I believe President Biden may be the only Democrat who could run for president who will lose to Donald Trump.
There is an irrefutable truth. President Biden promised to be a transitional figure. He promised to be a bridge towards stability. He was the knight who saved us from Trump. There is no question about that. The question at hand was: could he be a George Washington? Could he walk away from power, or would he seek four more years at age 82?

He isn't the first. Cenk announced his candidacy two weeks ago:

I've been reading about this guy on twitter. Evidently he's taken a 2019 campaign donation from a well known conservative billionaire (Harlan Crowe, who is best buddies with Clarence Thomas.) I'm kind of skeptical until I know more about him.

So Biden's 7 million voter victory over the Mango Mussolini in 2020 is just going to evaporate? Those voters are going to stay home AFTER the SCOTUS Dobbs decision? Suburban women were key to defeating Trump in 2020. Do you think the are going to be LESS motivated to vote for Biden in 2024?

The polls say so. Not that they've been very accurate lately but they are a warning sign.

The two videos I saw through that link were just fluffy jargon. He wouldn't say anything he would do any differently than Biden. Not likely to do very well unless he is willing to articulate actual differences with the guy he's running against.

Menace in the air? Storm gathering? You’re referring to when the world runs out of oil, gas and coal right? Otherwise there is no storm. Anyway the lord has other plans imo.

A better indicator of a trend might be how Democrats are performing in special election: https://www.msnbc.com/all-in/watch/-pro-democracy-
I agree. I saw a poll taker being asked about the recent polls showing a near equal support for Biden and Trump and he said Trump has never polled this high ever. He was always trailing to some degree, and only won in 2016 due to tje electoral college. he lost the popular vote by about 3 million votes. So what does the current polling mean? Well if it is more support in the red states Trump won in 2020, and not in the swing states that Biden won, then it means Biden wins in 2024. But they aren't polling in states to see where the EC status is, just overall popularity.

To my mind that Trump is more popular with all of his legal trouble is highly troubling. With numbers like this I would question whether any democrat could win.

Some pundits suggest it doesn't mean anything until the election, but if it becomes evident that Trump will likely win then it will be too late. I do have some curiosity of what Trump will do to America if elected (by a minority, again) and what that will mean to politics and society. But morally I hope it doesn't happen.

I heard about that. It's always good to be skeptical but he doesn't sound like someone who'd want a Harlan Crow attached to him. Then that's where I have to remember to be skeptical, because politicians. I'm just kind of taking a watch and see mostly because of Steve Schmidt's early endorsement, I'm not ready to jump on anyone's bandwagon. It's just that President Biden, for being a good antidote to Trump, should've (like RBG should've) known when to pass the torch and that does bother me because it bothers a lot of voters.

After October 7, I'd say all bets are off.

I predict ...

Trump will be in prison by the 2024 election, and that will render him ineligible for office. He will claim he is America's new "Nelson Mandela" and his idiot supporters will run to the polls in droves to vote for any republican candidate that promises to set him free. But they will ALL be promising that they'll set him free so the idiot base won't know who to vote for and the republican party will be in even more chaos and disarray than it already is.

Meanwhile, Biden's health will render him unable to endure the rigors of another presidential campaign and he will have to become a 'lame duck'. But rest assured that the democrats will find another obedient servant of the oligarchy to take his place, as they always do, and we won't much like whomever that will be, either.

So the pathetic saga will just keep on going until Trump finally dies. Sooner, we can all hope, rather than later. Because until the raving mascot for stupidity and greed is dead and buried, the greedy idiots in politics and the media (which is nearly all of them) will remain united in their efforts to destroy everything they focus on.

The Democrats need an alternative to Biden. His cognitive ability is declining to the point that I don't see how he could conceivably complete another term as president. Not to mention debate with the republican candidate running against him.

Trump is clearly losing it as well. But the oligarchs that control the government don't want either party to change. They like all the incompitance and in-fighting. They can continue robbing us all blind under it's cover, and then blame our dire straits on the politicians. And we fall for it every time. So why not?
