"Change is the only constant in life."

And the biggest change in life is one's death.

Consider tomorrow you are given a terminal diagnosis, and you have twelve months to live.

What would you do with that time? How would you live?

"Death cancels everything but truth, and strips a man of everything but genius and virtue."

-William Hazlitt

And then once you've thought about that and written it down.

What is stopping you from doing some of these things now?

Personally, I try to always keep an open mind about things and try not to get stuck in habits and routines. I want to be able to experience all this life has to offer, and so I try my best to experience the things I can.

Some things on my list are not worth it even though they sound pretty good at first. They would just be fleeting moments of sensual joy that would not benefit me on a deeper level. Then, there are things that are more spiritual. I am currently not doing them because I am too distracted by things that don’t really matter on a deeper level. By remembering that death is certain and could happen at literally any moment, I feel motivated to do more spiritual practices. Even now, before I get up from this bench to walk home, I’ll do something spiritual. Your post is helpful!
