Defeating covid via the "kitchen sink", in a few weeks

Spirit of Light

This article describes a relatively quick plan to truly knock the virus down to the size we can deal with. It involves a 90% shutdown of most everything for a few weeks.

Makes sense to me:

US could ‘virtually eliminate’ coronavirus if ‘we decide to’, top Obama administration health official says
I hope American leaders see this article too. Seem to be a lot of wise advice about how covid-19 can be controlled in America.
American people have suffered enough now.

All we need to do is give the federal government total control over us.
How could that go wrong?

Seems like a lesser of evils situation to me. As it stands, the feds are running our economy into the ground..

This was possible, maybe to a certain extent, if initiated early in the pandemic, but the pandemic genie is out of the bottle. Some of the countries you listed were relatively isolated with a more uniform population, and much easier to control the pandemic once it spread to the population. Smaller isolated populations like islands have different dynamics than larger diverse populations with more variable geographics and population densities.

More to follow, but it is not as simple as described in the reference. There is no simple way to 'defeat' any virus, in fact no one has ever 'defeated' a virus in history, and this coronavirus is a mean virus.

Based on what was known early, maybe February, what could have Trump and the administration done?

I'll have to find it all again, but while Trump was being briefed about Covid--including just how dangerius it can actually be--he was trying to bait Iran into a war and assassinated one of their generals (of sorts as I forgwt the guys exact title and offica position within Iran).

Rule #1: the money pump cannot be turned off for any reason, ever.

Rule #2: all humans exist to serve the money pump. And they are expendable, if necessary.

What of constitutional limits on federal power?
Not all good ideas are legal.

Well, I can hunt it down, but the USSC has ruled on similar cases and found it legal.

Now we can also do it differently. I am the sole source and understanding of what is legal and not, and if I say it is not legal, then it is not legal, because I say so. I solely understand the Constitution as not just my personal view, because I am the law. /s

People who want to give the fed gov such central & great power
over us should remember that it would be given to Donald Trump.
Is it possible that he might use it in ways they hadn't anticipated,
& possibly to our detriment?

This isn't about libertarianism, but rather about the rule
of law, & why we instituted it. So tis actually you who
advocate scrapping our system.
We have the Constitution. To advocate unconstitutional
solutions would mean giving government the power to
violate it. Great power to do good could also be used for
evil. Because we cannot guarantee leaders who are both
wise & ethical, limiting their powers is useful.

Old Revoltistanian saying about government....
The power to do something for you
is also the power to do something to you.

Well, Trump has done anything unconstitutional in the end, because he hasn't been convicted of it. That is not the failure of the Constitution. That is politics.
