They are preferences but they exist in practically 99% of Deists as of now. I keep trying to state to you the vastness of Deism but you keep rejecting it and the article in which you are receiving your information.
You keep applying doctrine to Deism which does not exist nor ever did. If you give Deism the definition you are giving it then you are denying history and the founding fathers of Deism.

Science is apart of reason so technically we are only describing one thing. Deism is founded upon this and this is the basis of modern Deism and all Deism for that matter.

To be a Deist one must extract any knowledge about god from reason(science, nature, philosophy. Take your pick). How can a Deist assert that there is a god if he has no scripture? Doe snot believe in superstition nor prophecy. He has to come to the conclusion somehow and Reason is the method.

The most common phrase by a Deist is that "Deism is the religion of Reason". This has been implied by Deistic writers such as Thomas Paine and Voltaire. The core principle of Deism is to use reason instead of faith.

This is what separates Deism from Theism.
