Life asked death, "why do people love me and hate you?" Death responded, "because you are a beautiful lie and I'm a painful Truth."

Frater Sisyphus

Contradiction, irrationality and disorder
Life: "Psst, check this out."
Death: "Leave me alone!!"
Life: "Why are you so grouchy??"
Death: "I have to put up with you, now shut up!"
Life: [walks off crying, knowing that their relationship is falling apart]

I accept death, so tend to handle it better than most, but even so- there is no cure for the sense of loss when someone dies, except time. In the back of your mind, you know your life is now missing something. I haven't found a way to get past that pain. Not sure I'd want to.

So true. When The Buddha had his last paranivanna, he died. He did expect to die but that expectation changed him to be more reflective his current state of mind. Its a good way to see every day in mind in the right direction. Find something to be grateful for from the point of view of dying, and use that expectation to live a better life without taking it for granted.

I did loose a loved one a month ago. Looking at it like this really helps. Your words got meaning.

Not to everyone. A friend of mine decided it was time to go after she was no longer able to do the work she loved with sick and dying children. I wrote this in response to the feelings I had being with her as she was leaving us.

Prologue

Looking homeward.
Longing.
Praying.
Enough.
Time to go.

Transition

Whispers of angelic wings.
A veil thinning.
Thinning.
Joyous divine music.
Light filled room.
Sweet perfume.
Letting go.

Exaltation

Leaping free.
Soaring arias.
A young girl dancing.
Attar of white roses.
A divine being
- arms opened wide.
Melting into sunshine.
Gone
.

So typical see it all the time. Sure it was love at first sight but then reality set in and it was forever do you part. Neither party knew exactly what they were getting themselves into. Along came the kids responsibilities and finally the eventual separate bedrooms. She seems distracted and he seems overly determined.

Love the quote!

The way i see it is that life and death both serve a purpose.
Life is for the purpose of turning matter into spirit.
Death is what happens when we have either completed
this life's purpose or are no longer able to do so.
Death is what happens when life is finished.

Life and death are essentially the same, there is no separation.
During life we create what we become when we die.
Death will eventually be permanent once we have been perfected through many lifetimes.
There will no longer be a need to live the beautiful lie because we will have accepted the painful truth.
